moto
i am currently working on a "trade analyzer" to help w complicated trades (ie 2 for 1's, 3 for 2's etc.) or even just simple player for player trades because the in-game fair trade system almost always favors the computer. i will be using excel to create a spreadsheet that one can easily plug in player's attributes in order to make a "fair" trade. i need some help from the community though. how can you compare a pitcher ratings to a hitter? what attributes should i use when calculating overall ratings (i hate that bar)? blevere2
One thing i think is that the computer values thier prospects and player salary too high. In my brewers franchise no team wants Ben Sheets because he makes 8 mil a season. Another problem is that even with budgets off teams are not willing to give up prospects that are 5 star. Andy Marte is a prime example. He was traded twice this offseason for good players in Crisp and Renteria yet in the game you have to give up a great pitcher and hitter to get him. Such as Zito and Chavez from the A's. Good Luck with you sheet. Im excited for it.
moto
I'm interested in hearing what files you'll be modifying.-Mo. i want to create an "excel spreadsheet". i dont think modding files is necessary. contract, age and "star" value definately have to be included, along w the obvious contact, power and speed ratings. overall pitcher ratings are a little tough to come up w though. there are also many "hidden" attributes for both hitters and pitchers that can only be seen in MVPedit which further complicate things. i dont want to make every trade monotonous by having too many attributes but i also have to include enough to make it accurate. UncleMo
Wait. You're just making a list of fair trades then? I just don't see what you are trying to do.
moto
Wait. You're just making a list of fair trades then? I just don't see what you are trying to do. not a list, mo. a spreadsheet where one can input player attributes and come up with a player's value. when i get a beta spreadsheet i will post it. other input welcome
Applejak
Sounds great. I REALLY need one, I cant trade for %$#&. A spreadsheet would be good, so you can match the value of the trade to see what you need to give up. The only problem is that I cant Alt-tab MVP, so I wouldnt be able to see Excel. Is that just my laptop, or is it the same for everyone. If it is then a spreadsheet might be too much hassle.

moto
here is a very, VERY early version of the trade analyzer. this includes info for hitters only. pitchers will take much longer to do. this is FAR from accurate. i just want to give everyone an idea of what i am working on. this is not protected so feel free to change the formulas. feedback much appreciated. kgbaseball
I think you can't tab out because of the resolution you play at. When I have the game at 800x600, I can alt tab, but with 1024x768, I can't.
pfalvey
Wait. You're just making a list of fair trades then? I just don't see what you are trying to do. His program will evaluate trades to see if they are fair. When he is done, you can turn fair trades OFF in MVP, use his analyzer to evalute a trade and then execute it in the game. moto
hitter and pitcher valuation together. i will be working on a revised spreadsheet in the coming days to make this as accurate as possible in order to use the pitcher valuation, you must use the dat exporter (if in a dynasty) and rglass's MVPedit i just wanted to get something down. i hate working with a blank spreadsheet so dont flame me if the values are off. peace

seanzarelli
I haven't checked this out yet as I haven't had too much time, but from what I can tell with everything you are doing, it seems like it will be a good "mod" to have. I hate trying to sit down for sometimes a good 30 minutes trying to figure out what I can do for 2 for 1's, 3 for 2's and so on. You think this might help the multiple team trades as well? (Since you can do them with fair trades off)

(Since you can do them with fair trades off) in its preliminary version, it is really only useful for 1 to 1 trades, though hopefully that will change in the coming wk. the basic formulas still need to be worked for even player trades. zachm90
mo this is a real good idea im all for it. You have my vote on it im always in need of a solid player not a superstar and just to get him i have to trade away a guy like pujols or a-rod so this would really help. jhath
one thing ive noticed.. as long as the computer is clearing at least 300k cap room, they are way more likely to give up players... ive gotten johan santana dirt cheap by takin like 2 mil extra salary back.. Matroska
What are the variables we use for contract and star power? Ex. 356(in mvpedit money format)/4 for the contract? and for star power is it 1-5 or what? Edit- David Ortiz' age 31, probably the average players prime and its rated -1.50 and age 20 is rated 4.00. Maybe this is correct for your formula and also after I rated David I got -1774 for his value and for buehrle got ######, I realize this is a beta and everythings not ironed out yet but keep up the good work!
