Lowell Spinners

In all seriousness though, you have to edit the team.dat file and also change the .LOC files in your data directory to change the team names. Jim825 recently made a post of exactly what to do, but I can't find it. It's a rather simple process though.

I found it. It doesn't go into extreme detail, but it should be enough.

In order to change the team names, you need to edit the team.dat and tstat.dat roster files. These files can be edited with a text editor. Once you modify these files, import the roster files into MVPEdit. Your new team names will now appear. Note that this will only make the team names visible in MVPEdit.

In order to get the team names to show up in the game, you will need to edit the FEENG.LOC and IGENG.LOC files (these are in your MVP Baseball 2005 data folder). These can be edited using the loclook tool (which you can download from the files section of MVPMods).

Thanks KG. Another thing i forgot to ask was when the team is anounced in the game will the old team be announced? I would figure that if the sound could be modded Mike loweels last name could be used?

You'd have to mess around with the audio files, but it could be done. Although I'm not sure what words you could put together to make Spinners. I can't recall the announcers ever saying "spin."

When i get into the screen that tells me the teams it says lowell Spinners but when the game goes to load it crashes. I dont know if it was from the unifroms i just installed or if it was from changing the name. Any ideas?

I would guess it was the uniforms. Do you have a backup copy of your uniforms? If not, then this is a painful lesson why you should always back up your current working files before making changes. I got burned a few times before it finally sunk in for me.

Back to your problem, I've been trying to import some uniform changes for the upcoming TC6 release and like you, after selecting the stadium, the game starts loading (the "progress bar" starts moving forward) and it then crashes. When I go back to my previous uniforms files, everything works fine.

Hi Jim,

whatever happened i had to do a complete reinstall. I do back up my files but for some reason it was beyond repair. I have no clue how to really change the minor league teams. Before i reinstalled i lost my yankees team that would not load even. so i will see how it goes with a fresh install.

Thanks for the reply

Ok,

I have a fresh install. i followed the instructions from this thread and the game crashed again. nthing else installed just a change of the name. I backed up all the files that were changed. fired the game up and it crashed. this is getting ridiculous. i am ready to throw my computer out the window

It wont crash after a fresh install only if i change wilmington to the spinners. If i put the files that i backed up back in their proper place it will still crash and can only be fixed after a fresh install. I have no clue what the cause or solution to this is. I may just have to keep the game as intended.
