Darkslide820
Hey, everyone. It's my first post here and let me just begin by saying that I've seen a lot of what people have created here over the past year or so, and I appreciate all the work that people have done to make MVP the best baseball game ever. With that said, for a few months now, I've been working on making All-Time teams on my XBox version of MVP 2005. As you can probably guess, since a lot of people need to be created by me (ex: Nap Lajoie, Darryl Strawberry, Cal Ripken), a lot of people end up getting the same face when they come up to bat, or when you scroll through the rosters. I know that there are ways to insert your own pictures into the game, so I just wanted to ask you guys: 1) How can I do this on XBox? If there's a tutorial video on this site, just point me to it. 2) This is probably easier to do on PC, so should I get a PC version of the game instead? I really want to put my own pictures in the game because, for example, my Tim Keefe, Buck Ewing, and Thurman Munson all look alike. Thanks in advance. kgbaseball
The PC version of this game allows you to do infinitely more things, plus the graphics are better (assuming you have a decent video card). If by pictures you mean cyberfaces or portraits, get the PC version, and I'll tell you some easy ways to make both of them.
Darkslide820
I'd be happy with the in-game photo (Honus' is the card, Babe has the white/pinstripe hat, current people have a mug shot, etc). I'm guessing that's the portrait. I understand that the face on the 3-d model during a game (cyberface?) takes more effort, and I'd only be willing to do that for a few people. Also, while I'm at it, is there a way to get 10 letters for a player's last name? Darryl's last name is currently Strawbery because of the limit. I don't know anything about the X-box version of the game. But on the PC version first names are limited to 11 letters. Last names are limited to 14 letters. How is Jason Isringhausen's last name spelled on your game? (He's the closer for the St. Louis Cardinals).
Darkslide820
If someone is pre-packaged in with the game, then the creators can do whatever they want. Von Benschoten's name is spelled in full. You can't make your own commas and spaces (ex: Ripken, Jr.), but the game can (ex: Griffey, Jr.).
themewin
Portraits can be used on xbox, they need to be in .xsh file format. The process for making the portrait is the same as the pc but you just put the .bmp files into a .xsh. A modded xbox is needed to edit game files. We can't put in periods, commas, or spaces either.(in game that is) In the create a player screen, I can create a player with a last name with 13 I's. But if I try doing all W's I can only get 5. I can't put "Strawberry" in for the last name, but I can put "Straiberry". I think each letter must be given a "width". And the total width can't be greater than a certain number. I know you can update your roster if you have a modded xbox, I just don't know how.
Darkslide820
"The PC version of this game allows you to do infinitely more things" But is it easier than on XBox? Before I go out and buy a PC version of the game, I just wanna know basically how to do it, and if it's gonna require a lot of time. If I can just go into a couple of folders and Cut & Paste a picture file in a player's folder (I'm assuming that each player in a roster has a folder), then that's cool. But if I have to go downloading editing programs to switch a guy's picture, then I don't know about that. "I think each letter must be given a "width". And the total width can't be greater than a certain number" I'm guessing I won't be able to spell out Carl Yastrzemski then either.
Darkslide820
Also, is there a way to input your own sound clips for created players' names?
Darkslide820
OK, I'll ask it this way: What is the basic step by step to get pictures into the XBox version of MVP 2005 so that all my created players don't look alike? Download a program? Buy something at store? Open up XBox? You said that a modded XBox is needed to get portraits in the game. What makes an XBox modded? Again, is it a program? Is it physically altered?
