nmm66
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could make trucker style (foam and mesh) hats to import into the game? I've though of two different ways I could do this, but I'd like some input: 1)create and alpha for the hat file which would make parts of the hat transparent 2) just overlay some sort of pattern on the back portion of the hat to give it that mesh appearance. Has anyone tried this? If so, thoughts would be appreciated.
bigbully
the foam part would probably just take some texture work in PhotoShop. I just released a pack with a mesh bp hat for the Colorado Sky Sox - I'm sure the same thing could be used, again w/a little lighting added to it the mesh look like trucker hats

kgbaseball
Don't forget skaters; I bet you more of them wear trucker hats than actual truckers now. :)
Yankee4Life
Can someone give me an example of a trucker style hat? I'm not a trucker and I'm not sure if I have seen a style hat like that.
kgbaseball
Basically trucker hats have a mesh backing and usually the name of a company on the front.
nmm66
sweet. I've made jerseys for the baseball team i played for when i was 5 years old and we wore hats like this, so I wanted to get the uniform as correcnt as possible. it looks like bigbully's texture example will work nicely. thats exactly the sort of thing i was looking for. I think i can emulate that nicely in PS. i think the foam part ill just leave white with no texute on it, maybe just a bit of an accent for the crease (which can bee seen in the picture above) thanks. Homer
this is what i've been playing around with. it just seems that trying to get that netting texture is a bit of a pain, and i'm just not that good with photoshop as of yet. but this is the best i can do for now. there are two types below, let which one you like better, or if you don't like them at all. ignore everything else please, i'm just asking about the netting on the back of the hat. biker_jim_uk
the best way would be to do the dotted area as an alpha channel
Homer
yeah, i'd have to agree. but while sitting down and doing it...i really didn't know how to do that:) plus i wasn't too fond of having to draw all those dots. so instead, i just tried to create a pattern i could use each time, and just added it to the hat template so it's quick and easy to use each time. anyhow, here's what i ended up with, and i don't think i want to spend anymore time on this. D-Unit
Don't forget skaters; I bet you more of them wear trucker hats than actual truckers now. Where I live, there are 12 year old skaters with trucker hats and shirts which all say "Guinness" and "Jack Daniels" on it. Half of them think Jack Daniels is the life of the party. As in a human being.
biker_jim_uk
A quick try by me, you can see the light coming through the mesh
JoeyMcM93
America's youth has become trash. I'm not saying I wear suits and ties to chool, but when rich white kids have chains bigger than anyone, it's just not right. It really shows you what our youth is like, trash. biker_jim_uk
you just need an alpha a bit like this and change your index entry to hat%20 0005.BMP BMP 6D +2 256 128 {0 0 0 0} alpha 0005-a.BMP ETXT 69 64 16 {0 0 0 0} EAGL64%20metal%20bin%20attachment%20for%20runtime%20texture%20management%00%00%00%00%00%00 ETXT 70 hat%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00 Your's was looking pretty good to me, just change the dots to the alpha layer. RAM
America's youth has become trash. I'm not saying I wear suits and ties to chool, but when rich white kids have chains bigger than anyone, it's just not right. It really shows you what our youth is like, trash. dude we were wearing trucker caps and beer shirts when i was a kid and i'm in my mid 30's. yeah i'm an old man. it's just a cycle everything comes around and goes around. it's like today's version "punk" it's a joke- we were sporting mohawks and listening to black flag in 1980. now everyone is punky running around with a ring in their eye and a tiny little tattoo on their arm. anyhow it doesn't mean they're all trash. the only difference now vs. when i was a kid is that alot of kids nowadays have things way too easy and are lazy. to many kids i know never leave the house and just play their games and listen to their ipods. my ex gfriends brother was so bad he tore a muscle in his leg stepping off a curb. that's bad. JoeyMcM93
Yeah, you're right, but you have to admit, there's a lot more stuff that goes on now a days then there was back then. Around here (Santa Cruz is a dump) we have riots, gang fights, graffiti everywhere, anything bad you could think of. I think it's all going down the tiolet. I'm not saying that everything is bad, but it's getting worse all the time.
