Offical Team threads

Hory

Recommended Posts

Yesterday, A crazed Astros fan started up a thread for the '05 NL Champs, and Yankee4Life as is his custom locked the thread and then deleted it.

Don't get me wrong I hate the friggin' Astros, but surely they deserve their own team thread here along with the Cards, Phillies etc etc

Having a "Other team" thread is rather silly given that there is a post here by an admin stating

Under no circumstances is anyone, regardless of status, imagined or otherwise, to post offensive comments about the team the thread was created for.

So by that logic in the other team thread, a Dodger fan would not be allowed to say anything negative about the Giants.

Yet Cubs fans or Redsox fans in their threads (for example) are "allowed" to rag on the Tards or the Yankees as it is their "own thread"

And before someone says no-one would use XXX team thread, all it has to be is more popular than the Cubs thread which judging by our season is solely going to consist of a few 'fire dusty' posts for the next few months..

All I'm saying I think there is room for other team threads, there's lots of mentally disturbed cards phillies and astro fans here and they deserve a thread of their own.

There are fans from all 30 teams here and some of them even support teams further west than Chicago.

How many times has this issue been brought up? How many times has it been thought about, then rejected? And how many times are you going to keeping complaining about things here?

Firstly, if you want to quote me, at least do it correctly. Try not to let your dislike of me spill into factual evidence.

If you don't see the difference between offensive and negative, you have a problem with the English language. That's pretty pathetic, even for you.

Yesterday, A crazed Astros fan started up a thread for the '05 NL Champs, and Yankee4Life as is his custom locked the thread and then deleted it.

Get your facts straight before you post. If it was Y4L's custom to lock threads, don't you think there would be a hell of a lot more locked threads around here? In fact, there would be no active threads at all. Also, the thread wasn't deleted. It was moved.

Personally, I've been looking at the less active team threads recently and wondering if they should be there due to the lack of activity. If you're not happy with the lack of activity in the Cubs fan thread, why don't you post in it? You are, after all, allegedly a Cubs fan. For your information, the stickied team threads are constantly under review. If there is a lack of activity for an extended period of time, the chances are that that thread will be unstuck.

The ironic thing is that if we did have all the team threads that were created stickied, I, as well as others, would bet that you would be one of the first people to complain about it and make a post exactly the opposite of this, saying that there are too many team threads that are not used, and taking your usual pot-shots at the staff. Maybe you should go on another child-like rampage, deleting all your mods from the site before starting the next version of a project and starting to re-upload them again.

Finally, this thread should be in the Forum & Site Issues forum, not the Press Pass forum. Get it right next time.

As my custom? I didn't know that I was known for that too. As one user said so elegantly once, "MarkB is lock happy and Y4L is ban happy." I guess now I have reached elite status with my good friend Mark, who will remain in my opinion the best thread locker we've ever had in these parts. He's a legend to me.

But I do have to correct you. I didn't delete the thread. And that's all you need to know.

Let's see what else you want to cry about:

Don't get me wrong I hate the friggin' Astros, but surely they deserve their own team thread here along with the Cards, Phillies etc etc

No they don't, and I am sorry that is how it is. We used to have "official" team threads for other teams in there and they were removed for lack of activity. As I said in that other thread, the Mets had one. Oakland and Cleveland too. But those fans didn't use it. And Thug4Life last year wanted a Blue Jays thread and we started it on August 31st of 2005. As of today they only have 23 pages in that thread. Not much of a thread. That is in danger of being unstickied.

The reason why there are "official" team threads is because I made one for the Yankee fans. And I made it in April of 2004. This is our second thread because the first one had a problem with it. We had about 350 pages on the first one and this thread we have 322. The Yankee thread has the fans who get together and talk about the team. Other people saw that and they had to have one. No other team gets as much traffic as that Yankee thread.

And that's my point. We support it. The others didn't. If Astroholic wants to talk Astros he has his own site. He can Astro it up there. There will not be a Astro sticky and mostly because you had to get involved in it Hory.

I'm done. Now I got to go find Mark so we can get together and lock some threads just for the hell of it.

Ready Mark?

Again, Mark B and Y4L all you can do is resort to an ad hominem argument, instead of rebutting what I have to say.

But sure, let's divert the discussion into a petty little power squabble you both so enjoy.

Where is the Astro thread?

link to it then if it's not deleted.

I'm not arguing over whether a thread is 'sticked' I'm arguing in favour of the actual exisitence of XXX team thread.

It's seems ridiculous when you have 7 pages of mostly friviolous topics in the press pass section alone including one devoted to mocking royals fans

yet you have arbitrialy decided that there will not be a single Royals team thread created.

And popularity is is not a real issue, the fact is you would never delete the Cubs fans thread because the site owner is a cubs fan.

There will not be a Astro sticky and mostly because you had to get involved in it Hory

I don't know why you behave this way - a power trip on a baseball modding site for goodness sake :)

Oh, and I am sure you saw it by now, but you POTD complaint has been proven 100% incorrect.

Like I said 1,000 times, you are not going to get in my head or Mark's like you did to Moose.

so because of your haterd for Hory all Astro fans get screwed?

that thread is averaging 37.3 messages a month and is danger of being unstickied

the cubs thread is only averaging 14.2 message a month, is it in danger too?

I'm the one that pushed Moose off the deep end

wtf, you haven't even responded to what I have to say, I assume I must be correct then.

I'm sure creating a locked thread for the sole purpose of attacking someone in which you are the only person who can post falls foul of the rules you claim to hold so dear to your heart.

"You do not have the right to insult/attack/etc someone for ANY reason."

Again, it seems you have a problem with the English language. If you don't consider my post a rebuttal, that's your problem.

We're not robots. We don't mindlessly repeat the same things over and over again. The issue has been brought up previously, you've been involved, and you've seen the arguments for and against. Why do you want to see them again? Do you have memory trouble?

It would do no good linking to the Astros thread, but it does exist, trust me. You would simply get a message saying that the thread does not exist because you do not have the right to access the it.

And for someone who wishes to talk about power trips, why don't you explain your reasons for deleting all your mods when you had your last hissy fit? And you have the guts to call me arrogant.

(I'm waiting for my next PM, by the way. You know, the one you so lovingly send with the words "Go" and "yourself" in the subject line? I can't wait!)

Noooooooooo please don't. I post there when I have something to say regarding my team, but that doesnt mean I check it out regularly. Also, The fact that we have less pages can be partly due to the fact that there are way more Yankee fans than Blue Jays and I bet everyone who isnt a Yankee fan has also posted there, (I know I have).

No Kraw, I don't hate anyone on this site. I am not going to hate someone on a message board. I do think that he enjoys seeing how much he can try to make me upset and for that, I don't like it. I don't need it or deserve it.

The Astro thread is because of a new user. How long is he going to be here to go in that thread every day? That's why the Astros are on topic now.

Did the Reds ever get a thread? If they did Kraw it must have been long ago. But let's say they did. No traffic means that no one went there. That's all I mean.

Where do you get the figures for the messages for the threads?

I would really hate to see the Jays thread being unstickied, as us Jays fans do use it to debate and converse. I have no problem with the way the mods run this site, but I am against the Jays thread being unstickied...please leave us Jays fans out of this...LOL!

No one is planning on unsticking the Toronto fan area. I just used that as an example of us putting a sticky on a team thread that really does not get a lot of access. But you guys do use it. The reason why the A's and Mets one got unstickied was because no one posted in there anymore after awhile.

Who cares if it's sticked. The fact that you have one is good enough. If the activity is really that bad, then it will get lost in the pages of threads.

Date for the 1st message till now divided by total replies

Yeah the Reds use to have a thread, it was killed a while back when a lot of messages were purged for some reason. I remember it had more pages than the Cubs thread.

OK guys, I think that having "Official" team threads is a little silly if there are going to be arguements like this. A sollution to this problem is to just not have them. I'm not saying that we should delete them, but man, if arguements like this a rise over things like this, I don't know. You guys are very respected mebers here, don't have arguements like this over little things.

That's what I'm saying. Everyone is complaining about Team Threads that will never get used. If they don't get used then they will get lost in the many pages of dead threads.

Thank you Y4L..I enjoy talking with other Jays fans in that thread without being bothered by other team's fans.
