gotta love them umpires

I've virtually given up on getting accurate calls from the umpires. I have variable umpires and blown calls both off, yet I still get some horrible calls. Although it's only happened twice since I've been playing '05, I've had mistake pitches (the one with the yellow outline) called as strikes. If there is a record for getting thrown out of games, I think I probably have it. I usually argue at least one call per game.

Bsktblking25.... In pic 3 you see his leg on the base. I know it is not the best angle to see it, but it was. & in pic 4 is when he is tagging him, his backside is clearly sitting on the base. Wouldn't you agree?

Btw... welcome to the site.

I would turn them off, but I actually like the umpire to make a mistake here & there. It adds realism flavor to the game. Though I didn't think they blow one's this blatant.

As far as the mistake pitches, that's happened to me too. I actually like that. Umpires routinely blow ball & strike calls & it's to be expected. It keeps you on your toes knowing, you should swing if it's a close pitch. Actually I am surprised they don't blow more calls on pitches.

Heh heh (on the getting thrown out) That's baseball, you gotta love it. LOL

He is out, and I'll tell you why. The player had the ball in the glove when the runner's leg touched his body. Unfortunately, that's how the game bases outs. Which is why when you steal, you always slide head first to the outside part of the bag, or else you usually screw yourself over.

Actually as I slid in the pics above is how I normally slide on a steal also. & I have been called safe many times. (when I am safe)

Having "blown calls" on adds realism to the game , but I agree that at times the umpire may make completely outrageous calls that I strongly disagree with. I was playing someone in MVP online the other day and Roy Halladay couldn't throw a strike even though I clearly saw the pitch hit the strike zone! He ended up walking 2 people , and throwing 8 balls before finally throwing a strike. Many of those pitches hit the strike zone yet were called "balls"...I eventually got so mad I lost it , and fell 5-0 early. By the 4th inning it was probably 10-0.

Stupid umpires. :D

No, I think I hold that record. I am starting a new dynasty, and so far have played 7 games. I've gotten Joe Torre ejected in 3 games already. Umpires in this game stink. The strike zone is squeezed so much sometimes.

i heard an interesting explanation of why "blown" calls happen in all sports video games... it was that evertyhing that happens in the game is actually done in code, and the graphics try to intepret the code for us...we base our opinions on what we see on the graphics and expect the code to translate graphics back to code... so in other words, big shmooz, what might have happened... is in the code, he was out, but because of lack of ea intelligence in programming, it didnt show on the screen, and therefore we disagree with it... just a thought
