cybernetic
Yeah they seem to call the guy out when he touches the fielder not when he gets tagged which is really weird. I had a lot of steals where I was called out but really I was safe.
maxbjr
Something else about the umps I've noticed, where are all the fat out of shape umps at? Every ump I've seen looks in way better shape then most of my players, and they all look like they could easiely drive a ball 550ft + to the stands. Kccitystar
Starting now, everything is the fault of the 2nd-base umpire. I mean c'mon. His facial expression never changes, and he's always blowing calls all the time... I bet he was responsible for the site being slow earlier yesterday

utahjazzno12fan
while we are on the topic of blown calls.... how about someone making a mod where all of the umpires are fat..?
utahjazzno12fan
and no.... i dont think that i am asking for that mod just because i am running in a political campaign against a former major league umpire... i sure hope not
guywhoisweird
Big Shmooz, Check the angle on the replay. On that particular slide, the runner doesn't normally place his hand on the bag until later. Look at it from behind for definitive proof that the ump made a blown call.
big shmooz
Does it matter. That sucker was looking at the play over his shoulder until it was time to make the call. LOL look at your printscreens again. You're right. Maybe that's WHY he blew the call LOL.

big shmooz
i heard an interesting explanation of why "blown" calls happen in all sports video games... it was that evertyhing that happens in the game is actually done in code, and the graphics try to intepret the code for us...we base our opinions on what we see on the graphics and expect the code to translate graphics back to code... so in other words, big shmooz, what might have happened... is in the code, he was out, but because of lack of ea intelligence in programming, it didnt show on the screen, and therefore we disagree with it... just a thought That's actually an interesting theory. It is messed up if true, because then you can never know what's really happening on the ball field. Imagine a graphic showing the fielder catching a ball, but the code says he dropped it & the guy doesn't run because he sees the ball was caught. Or all such types of scenarios can then perhaps take place in a video game. (I guess those are called bugs)

I can't do that anymore because I didn't save it as a video. However I seem to remember that I did check it out from all angles at the time & he seemed safe no matter which angle I viewed it at (in the replay where you actually see it frame by frame)

(I guess those are called bugs) That happened to me.. the guy scaled the wall to bring back a home run and the graphics clearly showed that he caught it cleanly but it was ruled a hit and the guy got a double. Another time I hit a home run off the foul pole and the guy caught it off the deflection and he was called out.
utahjazzno12fan
Is it possible to do a mod to make fat old umpires?
big shmooz
The umpires in the game are pretty heavy as it is . Anyway, I would assume it's possible. After all, the body build the game uses is clearly editible. As far as being old, I guess you can edit the cyberface.

I don't understand, why a double? Do you mean that the ball was live & he simply ran to second base?
cybernetic
I don't understand, why a double? Do you mean that the ball was live & he simply ran to second base? Yeah he got a hit on it and made it to 2nd before the throw for some reason.. from all angles I looked at it was a clean catch. Later in the game it crashed to the desktop so I never finished it. utahjazzno12fan
Shmooz... I dont completely agree with your quote... G-D... then baseball... hockey is way down the line. PeoplesWar
He was definitely out. He slid around and by the time he touched the base with his hand, the defender already tagged him. Good try, though.

I am a hockey freak. I play it too. (roller & floor) I used to play till recently up to 5 times a week. I am thinking now of getting into ice hockey. I was told about a place that plays twice a week & they could use a goaltender. (I also play the EA sports game on the computer.) As far as the G-D thing, yuppers. I am an Orthodox Jew. utahjazzno12fan
I recently found out that I am Jewish... It must have been a family secret. LOL. My mother didnt know, and her siblings dont know. Her parents didnt even know. She got really sick. She had some tests run. Well, come to find out, she had not one, but two alleles that point to Jewish ancestry. After learning this, alot more started to make sense with stuff she had been told by her grandparents. But, I am a non practicing Jew. I was raised Christian. YankeesForever
MarkB, I tend to argue many calls a game. But, that's a silly call. During the arguement, you say to the ump, "He's safe, and YOU should be OUT of your umpiring job!"
closetogenius
looks like you slid around the base. if you slid at the base, the runner would pop up to a standing position or move his hand to the base as he stood up; however, your runner is moving from the opposite side of the base from which he ran. so, my thoughts: 1) you normally slide to the side (if so, you should choose the side not the closest to the fielder, the ball only pops out if you try to run over the catcher) 2) you use a controller that clearly doesn't give you enough control 3) take pictures from a air to ground view 4) he's out 5) if you have injuries off, just slide head first
