Portrait is Blank

So thanks to all the tutorials available here, I have been able to doodle around enough and manged to create myself in the game. Now, when I went to do the portrait, I followed the tutorial once again to create the bmp and the alpha. I converted them to the fsh file and used kraw's installer to install them. It appeared to have worked, as I opened up MVPedit, the picture appeared there just fine. But when I opened up the game to the Edit A Player screen, there's just a black box there. Any suggestions? I'll keep fiddling with it until then.

Every now and again, when I play a game, sometimes there appears a black box on regular players. I'm not too sure what causes this, but it usually lasts only 3 seconds or so and then the portrait appears.

Have you created any portraits aside from yourself before? If so, how have they worked?

I feel like this happened to me.

I bet you took an existing portrait and edited it or renamed the portrait didn't you?

If so, don't forget to change the info inside of your index file or whatever it is called. Not the .bmp but that other file.

UncleMo,

you nailed it right on the head. however, what other file are you referring to? Here's what I did: I extracted an fsh file to use as a template with EAgraph and then edited it through FSHEd. everything seemed to appear to work, but like I said, it was blank in the game. I don't recall seeing any other files along the way. Think you can tell me where to locate it and edit it?

the index file that is created when you use FHSEd contains the following (you can edit it with notepad or wordpad):

NFSHTool generated file -- be very careful when editing

E:NeilDesktop0486.fsh

FSH

SHPI 1 objects, tag G357

BUFSZ 262736

NOGLOBPAL

!PAD 8 4275792045525453

0486 0000.BMP

BMP 7D +2 128 128 {0 0 0 0}

alpha 0000-a.BMP

ETXT 69 64 16 {0 0 0 0}

EAGL64%20metal%20bin%20attachment%20for%20runtime%20texture%20management%00%00%00%00%00%00

ETXT 70 0486%00%00%00%00%00%00%00%00

#END

make sure to change the bold numbers to the portrait number you want. also, if you did a 2x picture, change the bold 128 128 to 256 256.
