Hey everyone, this is my first dynasty that I am posting and due to their recent struggles I have decided to make it a Chicago Cubs one. It is on All-Star difficulty with MVP 2005. Although I have not downloaded the MVP 2006 Mod, I have updated rosters and recent transactions, every stadium modded, and also an updated 2006 schedule. Let me know your thoughts :D

Cubs use Great Pitching and Longballs to Sink Reds

game1final9gk.png

How they Scored:

Reds 4th: Dunn Solo HR

Cubs 5th: Jones Solo HR

Cubs 6th: Walker Solo HR

Cubs 8th: Walker RBI Single

Cubs 9th: Barrett Solo HR

Player of the Game: Todd Walker: 2-4, Solo HR, 1B, 2 RBI, 1 R

Recap:

The Cubs got off to a good start to 2006 by defeating the Reds 4-1 behind a great 7-inning, 1-run pitching effort from Carlos Zambrano. The Reds picked up 5 hits off Zambrano in the first two innings yet could not turn them into runs. This was largely due to a great defensive play from Cubs right-fielder Jacque Jones. With 1 out and runners on 1st and 2nd Reds 1st baseman Scott Hatteberg ripped a single into right-center field. Jones ran to his right, cut off the ball, and fired a great throw to the plate to nail Adam Dunn, who was trying to score from second. Dunn got his revenge in his next at-bat by hitting a solo homer to right field for what turned out to be the Reds only run. Jacque Jones homered in the 5th to tie it and Todd Walker's solo blast down the right-field line in the 6th put the Cubs ahead for good. Walker also came up with a clutch 2 out 8th inning RBI single that scored pinch-runner Neifi Perez. Michael Barrett added a solo shot in the 9th. Scott Eyre and Ryan Dempster both pitched 1-2-3 innings in the 8th and 9th respectively. Dempster earned the save.

Next Game: Mark Prior (0-0) vs. Bronson Arroyo (0-0)

Can you teach me how to do that? I've been using imageshack, and even though i try to resize the images they still come out big. I really want to make them smaller. I completely agree with what you are saying.

Prior's great outing and consistent hitting from Pierre and Walker help the Cubs drop the Reds 5-1

game2final27qy.png

Cubs: 5 Runs 14 Hits 0 Errors

Reds: 1 Run 8 Hits 1 Error

How they Scored:

Cubs 3rd: Pierre RBI Triple

Cubs 3rd: Walker RBI Sac Fly

Cubs 4th: Murton RBI Single

Reds 6th: Kearns RBI Single

Cubs 8th: Walker Solo HR

Cubs 9th: Walker RBI Double

Players of the Game: Juan Pierre (4-5, 3B, RBI, 2 R, 2 SB)

Todd Walker (2-4, HR, 2B, Sac Fly, R, 3 RBI)

Mark Prior (8 IP, 1 ER, 6 H, 2K)

Recap:

The Cubs concluded their brief 2 game series in Cincinnati with a 5-1 win behind the strong pitching of Mark Prior and consistent hitting from Juan Pierre and Todd Walker. The Cubs offense kicked off in the third when Juan Pierre followed Mark Prior's 1-out single with a RBI triple to center. Todd Walker promptly hit a fly ball to right that drove in Pierre and made it 2-0. In the top of the 4th with 2 outs and the bases empty, Jacque Jones hit a check swing dribbler to the left of the pitcher's mound. Reds third baseman Edwin Encarnacion fielded it cleanly but hurried his throw and threw the ball away for an error, allowing Jones to reach second. Matt Murton made the Reds pay, fisting a single to center to score Jones. The Reds only run came in the 6th when Austin Kearns knocked in Ryan Freel with 2 outs on a groundball that deflected off of Prior's glove and caromed over to Todd Walker, who did not have a play. Walker led off the 8th with a booming HR off the right field foul pole, and he also drove in Juan Pierre from 1st in the 9th inning with a double to left-center.

Next Game: The Cubs go to Wrigley for their home opener against their longtime rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals. Kerry Wood (0-0) will pitch against Jeff Suppan (0-0).

Let me ask a question... Did you try to make your dynasty as realistic as possible? Such as lowering Prior and Wood's injury slider?

No, I hadn't thought of that. But its sounds like a great way to make this dynasty more realistic. Would I have to go to "Edit player" to do that?

Cards spoil Opener at Wrigley, beat Cubs 3-2

Rolen's HR in 9th wins it for the Redbirds

game3final5bz.png

How they Scored:

Cardinals 2nd: Rodriguez RBI Single

Cardinals 2nd: Miles RBI Sac Fly

Cubs 7th: Cedeno RBI Sac Fly

Cubs 7th: Walker RBI Single

Cardinals 9th: Rolen Solo HR

Players of the Game:

STL: Scott Rolen (2-4, 2B, 2 R, RBI, Game-Winning HR)

CHC: Juan Pierre (4-4, BB)

Recap:

The Cubs lost their first game of 2006 in a nail-biting 3-2 showdown against the Cardinals. Scott Rolen delivered the crushing blow, breaking open a 2-2 tie with a 2-out opposite field solo home run in the 9th inning off Scott Eyre.

The Cardinals struck in the 2nd, with John Rodriguez picking up an RBI single that drove in Jim Edmonds from 3rd, and Aaron Miles hitting a Sac Fly that drove in Scott Rolen. Both teams were quiet until the bottom of the 7th inning. Jacque Jones led off with a double and eventually scored on Ronny Cedeno's groundout. With 2 outs, pinch-hitter John Mabry singled and was replaced on the basepaths by Neifi Perez. Juan Pierre drew a walk, and Todd Walker came through with a single to center to tie the game at 2-2. However, in the 9th inning with 2 outs, Scott Rolen lifted a fly ball that just landed in the basket for a solo HR that gave the Cardinals the lead for good. The Cubs threatened in the bottom half of the inning against Jason Isringhausen. With one out, Cedeno grounded a ball up the middle that was snared on a diving stop by Aaron Miles, who threw from his knees to get Cedeno. Phil Nevin picked up a pinch-hit single with 2 outs and was replaced by the speedy Tony Womack. Juan Pierre singled to center, but Todd Walker was called out on strikes on a controversial check swing.

Notes: Juan Pierre is 8 of his last 9 with a walk, he has reached on his last 6 plate appearances...Derrek Lee is hitless through 3 games...Scott Eyre was placed on the 15-day DL with 'Major Wrist Tendonitis'; Sean Marshall was called up from Iowa to take his roster spot.

Next Game: Greg Maddux (0-0) vs. Sidney Ponson (0-0)

By the way, shugknight mentioned lowering Prior and Wood's injury sliders. I checked, and I don't think its possible to lower or raise the injury possibilities for just one player. It can only be done with the gameplay tuning sliders, which would apply to all players. I have those sliders tuned up a little, because I don't think MVP Baseball really shows just how often injuries occur.
