minmaster
i cant explain why, maybe im not the only one but i have a hard time hitting with a left handed batter in this game. back when i was playing highheat, i couldnt hit with right handers and now its the reverse. do you guys experience this too? especially when it comes to power, i can easily preload and mash inside pitches with right handed batters, but preloading inside pitches with a lefty does not work as well. in fact, i have easier time hitting HRs to the opposite field with lefties than pulling one. i remember when the first MVP baseball came out few yrs ago, there was an issue with left handers lacking power to hit HRs, maybe this issue hasnt completely been addressed? its gotten pretty bad that when i fantasy draft for my dynasty teams, i have to pick all right handed batters. the discrepancy in batting avg. and HRs are so bad that even if i have someone like a david ortiz, he'll be outhomered by a no-namer. sometimes, i think it has something to do with perception and my eye and timing and how i am a right hander, but probably not. anyways lets hear about your experiences...is anyone better batting as a lefty? ps - one question...i know there is a wind meter in the game that you can see when you pause the game, but does this actually affect the flight of balls? evil1182
I also have a problem hitting with lefties i believe it's because i'm a righty and my timing is way off. I have a dynasty with the mets and i struggle with delagado, reyes, beltran, etc.. That's a good question about the wind i don't see a difference with the wind blowing 30mph to the left field and i hit a homerun easily to right field. iansimcox
Have you got all the EA patches installed? I believe there was a bug when the game first came out that meant lefties weren't making contact as well as they should.
Ghostdog
I'm also having a tough time with lefty hitters, especially when it comes to protecting the inside part of the plate. My timing is way off, and i can't hardly fight off pitches with 2 strike counts, which makes me pretty vulnerable and pisses me off like hell. If i manage to make contact on inside pitches the outcomes are weak pop ups either straight up in the air or back to mound for a sure out. The pitches seem to have blazing speed, whereas from the right site i do have enough time to hit inside pitches and spray them all over the field. Always thought that this a major bug in the gameplay...

You just have to practice to get the timing down. The batting minigame is kind of fun, it's a good place to get in some practice hitting homeruns. Always thought that this a major bug in the gameplay... wow this is very similar to what i experience. inside pitches to lefties are so different from ones to righties. even if i feel like i got a good cut on a inside pitch, all it does is become a line drive that gets caught by the 1B or a popup to the RF. i rarely get the "no doubt about it" jack feeling even if i feel like i got the timing right. thats why i feel like im better at going opposite field with outside pitches as a lefty than pulling inside pitches. tywiggins, are you a real life lefthander btw? I feel you on that...almost all my homers from the left side are opposite field shots, which has increased with MVP 06. I don't know if that's the reason, but i've never experienced that much opposite field power in MVP 05. Playing with the Phillies, my lineup is predominantely left handed, which sucks big time, because of my problems with protecting the inside part of the plate. kgbaseball
I think it has a lot to do with how you bat/batted in real life. I was a lefty and I hit with lefties infinitely better than with righties.
MudvayneRocker
i always use the cubs, so the only lefties on the team really are Juan Pierre, Tony Womack, and Jacque Jones. with womack and pierre i use their speed and look at the outfield alignment. if the outfielders are defending an oppo hit, i try to pull it, and vice versa. i get alot of standing triples that way. with jacque jones i just try to power the ball to center. the ball always seems to fly to the left or right fielder. so if u need help with speed guys, i got ur help. but i have trouble hitting for any kind of good batting average with power guys. :x

D-Unit
its just a matter of timing and experience with it guys. i have played it for a year on gamecube and six months on the PC, and lefty hitters are much less frequent but it isnt hard at all, in fact i am better when bernie hits lefty (even though his stats say otherwise). minmaster
it could be the difference in perception that some of us are not used to. in highheat, i couldnt hit with righties so i did this experiment where i used the reflection of the mirror to hit as a lefty for righties and it felt very natural and easy to take a swing. also ive heard some say that the controller button being on the right side makes it easier to bat with righties. stcardinal
The only consistant lefty I use is Bonds and so far I've hit 55 HRs with him. I even toned him way down but he's still hitting em out of the park. On the other hand I'm having problems with righties. I am right handed though.
