slateman
Before you bust my balls, I did a search. I know ya'll get all whiney about it, so I did a search. It came up with three pages in the MVP 06 going back to February of this year. And even then you were telling people off and saying it was discussed three months ago. I would like some help now. I recently installed MVP 06: In Like Flint I have the same pitching meter problem as everyone else. The green area is too small for me. So I've been trying to change it. After my lovely search, I came upon this thread which told me to go here Only I get some stupid problem that says, when trying to compress, Fatal Error -- compression test failed! original <> compressed->decompressed! Now, I'm lost and a little pissed off. I got the utlities from that website but its not working. Are there better utilites somewhere else? Also, I don't quite understand this datafile.txt thing. I have a datafile.big in my data/datafile folder. But there is no datafile.txt either in my data/datafile folder or my data folder. Am I supposed to create this .txt file and then put it in the data folder? Do I need to delete the datafile.big file in my data/datafile folder? IloveJeter
Just play with Hoops sliders. Works wonders for the Mod. Takes it from insanely difficult to reasonable challenge.
sdoyle7798
That first paragraph ain't gonna help ya, bro. All you have to do is POLITELY mention you searched for it, then ask your question. I came up with a saying..."You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar." Really, that's mine... Now for you're question...I've never done any datafile.txt work, but I'm going to try what that second link you brought up did, and if I get it to work, I'll let you know what happened. (Or you can try what jeter said, that will probably work too... )

sdoyle7798
OK, step by step what I did...(This will only get you to the datafile.txt file, as I don't know what to do once you get there). 1) Went to C:Program FilesEA SPORTSMVP Baseball 2005datadatafile 2) Created a new folder (I named mine "Tutorial", but you can call it whatever you want. From here on out, I will refer to it as "Tutorial") 3)Copy datafile.big into "Tutorial." 4)Utilities.zip Click on that link and extract all of the files to "Tutorials." 5) Open EAGraphics. In EA Graphics, go to "File>Open" and find the datafile.big in "Tutorial" and open it. 6) Find datafile.txt on the right hand side. It will be under crosnite.txt. Click on it once to highlite it. Go to "File>Extract" and extract it to "Tutorial." It will ask you if you want to decompress, click yes, and save the decompression in "Tutorial." That will give you the datafile.txt. That is pretty much what is on that second link you gave, but maybe this will help you do something you might have missed on that site.

snepp
My page is old, and shouldn't be used for anything other than reference, which the person in the first link plainly stated. edit: you can still use Snepps page for reference but I just noticed that there is an updated set of tools for datatfile editing in the download section here ! Did you bother to check the download section for these updated tools? Am I supposed to create this .txt file and then put it in the data folder? Do I need to delete the datafile.big file in my data/datafile folder? If the green area of the pitch meter is very small, then you must have a datafile.txt installed somewhere...it will be in your /data folder, but if you have Windows set to "Hide Extensions of Known File Types" then it will just show up as datafile (no .txt) Once you figure out how to edit the datafile, the value you are looking for is: 34 AccuracyWidth, then look in the line following that and change the value at 34. It's probably 0.060, the stock value was 0.120 so you can go in between those numbers, or jack it right back up to the stock number. The datafile compression utility in snepp's post is pretty straight forward, it will uncompress an old datafile, open it in an editor, and recompress it for you.
