Well, i wasn't exactly sure where to put this post, so please excuse me if I was mistaken. Anyways, I have Mvp Baseball 2005 for PC. It played perfectly on my old toshiba laptop, but on my new Gateway Desktop PC, it has thise strange problem I can't seem to fix. Overall, I am computer literate, but not a "comptuer junkie", sort of speak. The problem with the game is that after I have been playing for like 2 games or just for more than 10-15 mintues, the game seems to fast forward. By that I mean everything speeds up including the menu/s. So I can't play a game since teh action is way too fast. If i turn off my computer and restart it, it goes back to normal for that small period of time of 15 minutes and I have to do this procedure all over again. I am not sure if this has to do something with my drives or a specific hardware problem, so I was hoping someone here may know why this is happening to me. My computer specs are as follows: AMD athlon 64X2 dual process3800+, 2.0 GHz, 1gb mem, 250 gb HD, double layer 16x multiformat dvd drives (2), an ATI radeon X800 card, and im running Microsoft windows xp media center with serveive pack 2. All my drivers are up to date and none of my other games do this other than MVP. Sorry for the long post :p, but thanks for the help in advance..

It doesn't seem to be a vsync problem, because i've enabled and disabled it to see if that made the difference, and it hasn't =(. ANy1 else have any ideas/help ?

ps. But thanks to all the people so far that have been giving me suggestions on how to solve my problem!!!

DID YOU ever install the patches? Try patch 3, try to play a game, if that does not work then try changing your vsync again, try to play a game to test it out, and if that does not work listen to what Thome just said...

First do what I just said, and then we'll help you beyond that.

Yes, I have done what you have said. I started teh game and turned on v sync in the display option/video options and in my video card options as well. It does not solve this problem. I installed the last patch mvp had when i first moved the game to my new pc. Um, just to refresh ur minds :p, this only happens after i've been playing mvp for a while, before that happens I can play and everything is perfect. Also, when this happens everything is normal except for the gameplay and menu/loads. By that I mean that the announcing isn't sped up, and the videos that start when the game loads up are in normal speed. Its like stuck in fast forward with regular sound and announcing. So yeah, i know this might sound confusing but i do appreciate the help i've gottten so far. :)

Try setting your vertical refresh rate to 60mhz on your monitor tab in the display options/video tab. I don't know if this is the problem, but I thought it's worth a try.

I tried helping someone with this problem a few weeks ago, and they abandoned their thread.

My theory was that the dual-core processor is causing the problem. (never proved or disproved unfortunately)

That is an interesting idea, because all my drivers are updated, vsync on, 60hz refresh rate, so I wouldn't think that they would still be causing the problem. On the laptop i used to have, the game worked perfectly, so perhaps it is the dual processor causing teh problem, but unfortunately im not sure how to fix it, if its even posssible :/ Anyways, thanks for bringing that to my attention snepp, im gonna keep trying to figure this out.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time a dual core processor causes problems with games. A few quick searches on google for "dual core game problem" found all sorts of interesting info.

Dual Core Gaming Fix Guide - An extensive guide

http://forums.tweakguides.com/showthread.php?t=445 - This one talks about not using the X2 and Cool 'n Quiet drivers, preferring to stick with the Window's defaults.

That's just a small taste of the info that's out there. Quickest solution might be to try alt-tabbing out of the game and changing the MVP process affinity.

1. Alt-tab out of the game

2. Open the task manager, go to the processes tab

3. Right-click on the mvp2005.exe process, select "Set Affinity"

4. Uncheck "CPU 1", click OK, close the task manager

5. Head back into the game

Good luck.

I had the same dual core problem but I found a solution. I started using Game Jackal. During the setup of the program it asked me if I wanted to run on only one processor instead of the 2. No probs since.

Sounds promising, changing the affinity should work just fine then.
