Totte
I'll be in Boston between July 6th-10th for the Dave Matthews Band shows @ Fenway Park and I'm staying at a hotel close to the Copley Place. Since I've never been to Boston before, I have some questions regarding some stuff: 1. I'm buying tons of baseball gear for myself and my teammates. Where can I find the best sporting goods store? The only one I've found is www.citysports.com . I definitely need to buy a pair of baseball shoes and a Papelbon jersey 2. What's the drinking age in MA? 21? 3. Are there any good music stores in the city? I'm looking for CD's and DVD's... 4. Is the Freedom Trail overrated or do you recommend me to take the 2 hour walk? What about the Prudential Center skywalk or whatever it's called? 5. Is it possible to buy some kind of 7-day card for the Subway like you can in NYC? 6. I need to buy tons of seeds so that I have something to chew on in the dugout. I can pick up a bag in any grocery store right? Thanks

onewaydown
I live about 35 minutes north of Boston, but I'll see what I can do... 1. I'm buying tons of baseball gear for myself and my teammates. Where can I find the best sporting goods store? The only one I've found is www.citysports.com . I definitely need to buy a pair of baseball shoes and a Papelbon jersey Bob's Stores is probably the best one... http://www.bobstores.com/search_results_state.aspx?state=MA 2. What's the drinking age in MA? 21? Yup. 3. Are there any good music stores in the city? I'm looking for CD's and DVD's... There's Newbury Comics on Newbury St, but any Department store (Wal-mart, Target) would have them to. Hopefully someone else can help me out on this one. 4. Is the Freedom Trail overrated or do you recommend me to take the 2 hour walk? What about the Prudential Center skywalk or whatever it's called? 5. Is it possible to buy some kind of 7-day card for the Subway like you can in NYC? =( I don't go into Boston that often, so I'm not sure about the attractions. and I think the MBTA only offers Monthly passes. Their website is www.mbta.com. 6. I need to buy tons of seeds so that I have something to chew on in the dugout. I can pick up a bag in any grocery store right? Thanks Yeah, our two big supermarkets are Shaw's and Stop & Shop. There's a Shaws by the Pru. (www.shaw.com). I'm trying to think if there's someplace better, but I can't right now. Hope that helps a little, and I hope someone else a little more informative may help too. =) Have fun!

Dagger147
I've been to Boston a few times. One of the ships I was stationed on was commissioned there, and we went to Boston every 4th of July. Faneuil Hall Market Place is a pretty decent place to visit. http://www.faneuilhallmarketplace.com/ Also, if you get a chance, check out the USS Constitution. http://www.ussconstitution.navy.mil/
JoeyMcM93
Sounds like fun Totte. Why do you get all the good vacations?

I was on the Constitution a few years ago when it sailed around Boston Harbor. It was a good time. In 1997, I was on one of the ships that escorted the Constitution for its 200th birthday. It was the first time it set sail in over a century. It was quite a sight and a once-in-a lifetime experience. I've always had a blast whenever we went to Boston. The people are very friendly and willing to help with directions or whatever.
Mobius
i live 15 minutes away from the city...and wow you are lucky you're going to the dave matthews concerts at fenway...i'm jealous you should definately check out bobs stores but theres also olympia sports, dicks sporting goods, modells, etc. there are a bunch of stores around boston areas like downtown crossing, fanueil hall/quincy market, newbury street, and the mall at the prudential center... definately take a duck tour if possible, they're at the prudential so you could also go to that mall which has tons of stores and you'd definately be able to find what you wanted

I'm a 7 minute walk from Fenway and pretty much know everything around there. PM me and we can set up a time so we can chat on AIM.
Totte
Thanks you guys Guess it can be that hard to find a sporting goods store in anytown USA right? lol I'm definitely thinking about taking a duck tour but we'll see how much time I get on my hands to do those sort of things. Feels like I'll only have time to attend the DMB shows and buy my baseball stuff

PinkFloyd2003
Dude! Go to Mike's Pastries on Hanover Street in the the North End! Its right near Quincy Market. And also the Freedom trail is kind of cool... but that was from a 12 year old's perspective and it's been 9 years since I've gone on it. Provided the weather is decent, I say go for it (I think Mike's might be on the way too!).
