UncleMo
Are some video cards incompatible with this processor? I have the AMD 64 3700+ processor, where it is 2.2 gigahertz. I bought a card recently and I'm wondering if it did not work properly because maybe it was incompatible. And, if certain cards are incomp. I am wondering how I can tell what cards will work with my new system. Cards I'm considering: Radeon X850 XT Radeon X800 XT Geforce 6800 Ultra Radeon X800XL (Unavailable) GeForce 6800GT Radeon X800 Pro Geforce 6800 or some of those Radeon x1300, x1600 type of cards, if they are any good. JP_Frost
I got the same processor along with a geforce 7900GT ... so my guess is that Geforce shouldn't be a problem (this is an uneducated computer guess)

MVPOAKAS
Sounds like you're looking at an AGP card. It also depends on how much you're looking to spend. A X1600 Pro and 6600GT can be had for as low as $135. Don't bother with the old 800s.
UncleMo
thanks. I meant to be looking at the PCI ones out of that list though.

The only thing the X1600 Pro has over X800 is Shader Model 3.0.
ezdriver
I have never heard of any compatibility problems between the CPU and graphics card. Now, compatibility between the motherboard and graphics card is an all together different issue. This relates to the older AGP interface and the newer PCI-e interface for the graphics card. So, if you have an older APG board and you buy a new PCI-e graphics card, then yes, you have a problem. Hope this clears things up for you. ez
MVPOAKAS
Actually X850s are more powerful than the X1600 pros. The only thing the X1600 Pro has over X800 is Shader Model 3.0. True, with XTs. But maybe not with XL and Pros. If one has $300 to spend, I would hands down buy a 7900GT.
UncleMo
I ended up spending 199 for the x1600 512mb card.
