DustinTheWin
alright after a few dynasties of mostly simulating i have noticed something, pitchers in the last year of their contract always pitch better which is extremely inacuarate. Players like jake peavy shoudl have wicked off years and in the game it will do that and with a guy in the last year of their contract always pitches cy young quality, is there any way to fix so pitchers in any year of their contract will pitch good
kgbaseball
It's called playing for a contract, and a lot of times players screw organizations by having fluke years (Tim Thomas).
DustinTheWin
i know but players like johan santana just don't have off years as he does in the game

D-Unit
Adrian Beltre. i dont wanna point fingers and say its obvious, but i am suspicious of him using steroids. he hit 48 homers in 2004, then like 20 last year and only 6 this year. and varitek is either in a year long power slump and shrunken or... D-Unit
mike mussina is doing great in his contract year, so it is realistic.
kgbaseball
The only difference between a guy like Beltre and Mussina is Mussina has proven for 10+ years that he's a damn good pitcher/player.
D-Unit
true. moose is a hell of a competitor, he gives it his all every time he takes the mound.
DustinTheWin
no but sometimes in a non-last-year-of-contract they would have like era's of like 6, its relistic to do better in the last year but definitly not that terrible in the middle of contracts. kgbaseball
Not every player is going to act the same over the course of their contract. Nobody is going to fix this "problem", so just let it be.
DustinTheWin
it is a problem, it is extremely unrelistic, the game makes it seem like only players in the last year of contracts can do good
arossi12
You could pull a Russ Ortiz and release him in the middle of the contract.
Mobius
i think if you have johan santana in the game with all pitching attributes above 90 hes gonna do good, despite what year his contract is in
pfalvey
Don't sign players for more than 1 year.
JoeyMcM93
Beltre used steroids I bet. I mean, he does have the excuse of moving leagues, but this is his second year and he still sucks. Mussina his one of the purest players I have ever seen.
