onewaydown
Howdy. I posted a question on a thread in the Requests section, but never got an answer, so I'll post it again along with my work-in-progress... Props to kccitystar on his jersey templates, but are his the ones that everyone use to make jerseys? Nothing against what he's done, as it's still a fantastic pack, but has anyone tried to use the jersey textures from the Xbox version? They're a true 2x size rather than a resized/resampled 1x so they're a bit sharper. I'll attempting to put together a complete jersey set by grabbing all the textures from the Xbox version. Here are some samples: And a 1x (KC) versus 2x (Xbox) comparison: Again, nothing against KC as he's one of the masters, but I just wanted to see if this might be a good idea and if I should continue on it (it's quite time consuming work). krawhitham
KC's 2X templates ARE TRUE 2x templates the Xbox textures may he better quality but that does not make KC's work a FAKE 2x template
onewaydown
I didn't call them fake. =( I didn't mean it as an insult or anything. ...but isn't a 1x image resized to 2x still just that. A double-sized low res pic? I'm sure Kc did a fair amount of work on cleaning them up. But that's all I meant by "true" 2x, as the Xbox textures aren't resized. No disrepect to KC or Moser316 was intended.
krawhitham
the thread topic looks like a slam also remember xbox uniform's use DXT compress which is a lossy format, PC 2x uniform's do not use DXT and quality is kept at 100%

Emil
Give Onewaydown a chance! He's trying to help the MVP Communtity, not say he's better than Kc or Moser.
JoeyMcM93
They both look good. Now is everyone happy? I personally love your uni's KC.
onewaydown
If it makes everyone happy, I'll upload my updated PSD pack. Awesome job on your new pack, KC. I guess I was a day late and a dollar short, eh? =) I was doing the coloring & piping a little differently tho... maybe I'll still finish it and post it here anyways, just for the heck of it. I was also including the zippered jerseys, those 80's looking jerseys with no buttons/collar and the old time jerseys. (although looking at the lack of replies here, it doesn't look like many people cared = ) BTW, I noticed that LEGA was updated, but not B-D (not sure if that's an oversight or anything). Keep rockin, KC. .peace.
AstroEric
I'd download templates for the other forms of jerseys. Keep on truckin'.

Royal Blues
I, for one, would love to have the zippered version and buttonless versions. Yours look great; just make sure you clean up where the seam (the Y-shaped edgings down the front and and off the neck) would be with the normal buttoned jerseys. I've tried making buttonless jersey templates myself, but I wasn't happy with them. I was able to clean off the edgings by clone stamping, but I couldn't find a good way to blur/blend it completely out. And if you're going to make a pack with different jersey styles, would yo be willing to do the two-button (see KC's thread, ala '06 All-Star jerseys) and older button jerseys? Those older ones had the buttons most of the way down, and the jersey itself didn't open completely. I believe the edging stopped just below the fourth button down. I also have a small suggestion, if I may. What i did with my button templates, I added a small line of shadow down the left edging of the jersey front, where it would open up. That subtle shadow gives it a ton of depth, like this:

I've tried making buttonless jersey templates myself, but I wasn't happy with them. I was able to clean off the edgings by clone stamping, but I couldn't find a good way to blur/blend it completely out. I'm basically taking what EA has done and just removing the logo and stuff. So the pics up top of the zippered and button/seamless jerseys are EA's original of each. Anything that looks bad is EA's fault. haha. For example, I took the Cubbie's home white jersey and the Red's white jersey and used the white space around each logo to combine together to get as much original jersey as possible and then cloned the remainder. I will. I saw that jersey, but not in white yet. I don't know what teams/jerseys are in what file until I browse through them all (which I haven't fully done yet). All else fails, I'll desaturate and tweak a colored one to get it as white as I can. I also have a small suggestion, if I may. What i did with my button templates, I added a small line of shadow down the left edging of the jersey front, where it would open up. That subtle shadow gives it a ton of depth, like this: I'm thinking on how I want to do the buttons, zippers & neck strings so that it's a seperate layer, in case you want to color the jersey and not that accessory part. I'm probably going to release it as true to the EA original first, and then maybe add some "enhancements" like this later. I don't have a lot of free time due to work and kids, but I try to work on this everyday for a bit but I want to at least get something out there for those interested. onewaydown
I'll paste my half-assed readme rather than post. I can't really put screenshots of, as there would be too many things to show... 2x Xbox Texture Photoshop Templates --------------------------- v0.1 I've pretty much done the sleeves, hat, helmets and jerseys -- give or take. I collected a few shoes, but I'm sure there are other mods for those. I included the old catcher gear that go with the throwback unis of the olden days. Thespungo's catcher gear mod would be better than trying to create a universal one. I haven't figured out a good way to do the pinstripes. I'm not a fan of sticking some straight piping stripes down the jersey, 'cause that's not realistic. The pinstripes should follow the bumps and flow of the jersey. No managers have a white jersey, so grey is the best you got for now. If you really need white, I can probably try and merge a JERS with it. But let me know if that might be needed. Most of the buttons and accessory stuffs are a little half-assed. So is the Batting Helmet. Let me know if they look off in-game, I haven't the time to test yet. Pants/legs are my next part. How to use ---------------------------- Open them in Photoshop or what-not. I found that using the Hue/Saturation (Ctrl-U) on the jersey gets the best colors. You can try and stick a color layer under it and set the Layer blend mode to Multiply, but I like my way a little better. It just may be hard to get the right color sometimes. I think the Piping on the jersey looks good with a tiny Bevel on it. Feel free to turn it off if you don't. I do think leaving the blend mode as Multiply helps the piping appear like it's following the bumps/flow of the jersey. Change that if you want too. Dick's Sporting Goods' website has nice pics of batting gloves (http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/). You can mess with them to make some cool gloves (if there's not a mod out already). 2xTemplatesPSD.rar - 8.41MB I'm slowly working on other parts, so let me know what you think so far. onewaydown
Just to show a quick example, I did the Blue Rocks' home jersey with 'em. Technically, the pants are straight from the Xbox, as I haven't finished with the templates yet. It's not 100% done, as the logo's a bit big, but still ... it's an example. You can see the difference on the buttons, the edges and little on the texture. It's hard to notice the diff on the pants, other than the pockets, but it's a little better when you see it at-bat. Stock 1x vs. 2x Xbox template (you may need to F11 your browser to see them side-by-side)
