Soccer Video Games

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. The World Cup craze is causing me to want to get a soccer video game. When it comes to games, though, as is the fact with MVP, I want a very realistic representation of the game of soccer. What do you guys suggest.

I was thinking:

Fifa 06

Winning 11

Anything else? Should I get it for PC or for my XBox. The only reason I'd get it for PC is if the games can be modded and do the mods make the game that much better. Let me know. Thanks.

The Dynasty.

That's what I figured, my fellow Connecticutan (I don't even know what the hell that means, heh). I was think Fifa for PC just because I saw some mods for it over here:

After playing the demo, I know I wanted a soccer game, but I wasn't too impressed with the graphics. Then I remembered that demos are always watered down. So I'm really considering buying Fifa today. I'll let you know, man.

I just picked up FIFA World Cup 2006 (not to be confused with FIFA 06). Both games are made by EA Sports, however, the World Cup version was made specially to commemorate this year's World Cup. It has all 125 teams that tried to qualify for the World Cup.

After trying the demo and getting some firsthand reviews, I picked up the game. The PC version is on a DVD-ROM, and since I didn't have a DVD-ROM drive, I also ordered a CD-R/W / DVD-ROM drive for $50.

Wow. Liked it so much you had to get the drive eh? I have FIFA World Cup 06 and it's a great game. I'm not a big fan of soccer and the MLS, but something about the World Cup I just love.

$10,eh. Was that with or without shipping? Because usually they sell the games for like 10 bucks and have 15 bucks shipping.

I guess I'm the only one who preferred Winning Eleven! I actually bought it on ebay as Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (the European version of the same game) since it came out months ago. I think it's a much more realistic soccer depiction than fifa, which I wasn't too impressed with. Provided you're not disappointed with a few missing teams, I think Winning Eleven for the PC is the way to go. I found a World Cup Patch for it as well which adds all the teams that qualified for the World Cup that weren't originally in the game (Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, etc.), adds most of the missing players to the rosters, adds the German stadiums, and adds the World Cup uniforms. I found that with the graphics up all the way on both Fifa and W11, W11 not only looked better but played much smoother as well. Just my two cents... ok more like $1.50 but you get the point.

I've heard that that was better as well, and I am considering purchasing that.

Get Pro Evolution Soccer (Winning Eleven).

FIFA is prettier, but for the game PES is years ahead. The only difference is a couple of licensing issues, but as you are on this site, I dont expect that to be a dealbreaker.

Well:

Just like UR and Swingin' Soriano's rosters, it really comes down to one thing:

Do you want Club teams/does having club teams matter to you?

If yes, FIFA 06

If no, World Cup Germany 2006
