mcer1
I am having a problem with unrealistic plays in the infield (specifically the 1st and 3rd baseman) being made by users. When I play the computer, I notice they have a delayed reaction on linedrives as it would be in real life. I cannot find a way to apply this similar reaction time to users. Does anyone know of a way within the datafile or anywhere else that can help solve this issue. Any input is greatly appreciated.

In mvp04, there was a way to speed up/slow down the delay time between the moment the cpu handed control to the user when using manual fielding within the datafile. I applied this tweak but this is a while back & i can't remember off-hand. In the meantime, if you're using manual fielding, try mvp fielding for the type of challenge you want.. mcer1
Thanks for replying Kam. Yea, in older MVP's there was a line in the datafile called <FielderAi>. I believe there was a delay factor there. It is weird. When I play online and someone hits a shot in the hole, my 3rd baseman will do some superman leap and make the play. But when I play the CPU, if I hit a shot to the left or right of the 3rd baseman, he reacts in a more realistic manner. It is literally night and day in comparison. We play on allstar level, is there a way to play on allstar but have mvp fielding??? I truly believe there has to be something in the datafile that can help fix this as well, or maybe it is just wishful thinking.
mcer1
MVP fielding might be the way to go. I never tried it before. I am going to test it out for anyone else who is curious and post back later.
Kamasutra
sounds great mcer, i'm currently in the process of going through the datafile to adapt the 04 tweaks to 05 where possible and add new ones. Lenghty, but I'm learning a few things here & there. Most tweaks are still applicable from what I see, and to my pleasant surprise, they actually applied alot of the tweaks from ppl like you & me from 04 to 05. A real blessing there, and confirms without a doubt that they were definitly paying attention. Good luck with the mvp fielding, for me it's the way to go. EDIT: Found the user control delay in the 04 version, it was: 11 UserControlDelay under <FielderAi> however this changed in 05 and that specfic value is nowhere to be found. Must of been renamed something else.
mcer1
Thanks Kam, this is what I was looking for. Now I have to find a way to find a middle ground. Now the reaction is a tad bit too slow in the infield. Maybe I am not used to it. I am going to try to find a way to limit the delay a little. Any ideas??? Kamasutra
yes it takes a while to get used to, only thing i can say is practice. But you do have MVP fielding sliders to play with (look carefully under the fielding sliders, you'll see "MVP fielding") so try those. 04's datafile had a specific section that addressed fielding, although mostly ai fielding, in 06 the fielding values are spread out all over the file and don't directly address delay/reaction time, rather animation. good luck.
