Mini-Game Crash

Ivanhoe

Recommended Posts

I just finished doing a Majors-A ball roster mod. I imported it into the game. Once the game loads up I decided to check out a few players by playing the batting mini-game. The mini-game loads up, it shows a close up of the batter and then crashes.

It doesn't matter what player I use it crashes. I played an exhibition game and a dynasty game with the same players and no problems.

I remember someone else had this problem and I searched for the solution but could not find it.

Any thoughts?

Quoted from Big Shmooz

The fix was already posted for the batting minigame crash. You need to have Shane Reynolds in the game. Manually install this into the attrib.dat file in the correct alphabetical order (based on last name of the players)

Here is what was posted... Here's how you solve it:

After exporting the rosters with MVPedit, open up the file attrib.dat in the mvp2005/data/database folder (where you exported the rosters) and insert the following string of text where it should be according to the alphabetical order.

0f844e070,0 Shane,1 Reynolds,2 37,3 0,4 0,5 0,6 10,7 27,8 115,9 29,10 244,11 1,12 0,13 0,14 0,15 0,16 1,17 743,18 1,19 5,20 11,21 0,22 0,23 43,24 12,25 11,26 10,27 10,28 2,29 0,30 0,31 1,32 1,33 0,34 0,35 0,36 0,37 0,38 2,39 0,40 2,41 1,42 0,43 0,44 0,45 7391,;

Apparently, EA has programmed the mini game to use Shane Reynolds as the pitcher & when he's not in the rosters it crashes.

You guys should thank kraw for finding the error.

Incase you hadnt found it yet.

I tried it and it did work.

A quick question or two:

How do I open the attrib.dat file?

Word, Notepad or is there a special program?

How do I reload it into the MVP folder?

Sorry for asking so many questions...

i tried the shane reynolds fix, but no go.

i put it in between "jose reyes" and "paulino reynoso", which by my calculations, is where reynolds would fall in alphabetically. what did i screw up?

I just put in back in myself and I put in the same location you said and it works fine, make sure you put the whole string of text in correctly.

0f844e070,0 Shane,1 Reynolds,2 37,3 0,4 0,5 0,6 10,7 27,8 115,9 29,10 244,11 1,12 0,13 0,14 0,15 0,16 1,17 743,18 1,19 5,20 11,21 0,22 0,23 43,24 12,25 11,26 10,27 10,28 2,29 0,30 0,31 1,32 1,33 0,34 0,35 0,36 0,37 0,38 2,39 0,40 2,41 1,42 0,43 0,44 0,45 7391,;

an update: tried evil's file and still nothing. if anyone discovers a reason why this is so, please post it. i've searched through other threads and have noticed similar problems - apparently the fix will work for one person but not another. thanks again to evil for his help and those who found the "reynolds" fix for attempting to solve a weird problem. guess i'll just have to do the pitching games and move on. :?

Can anyone else help me with something else simliar to this?

Is there another fix besides this, because it will be deleted when I export my updated rosters with the new attrib.dat. It will be overwritten, and I just wanted to know if I could avoid that.

If somebody could figure out how to import the rosters without an error back to making a new mbe file in mvpedit, then use that as the base for further editing the rosters, that should work to eliminate this problem of having to manually put in Reynolds every time after an edit.
