stcardinal
I'm using the Giants and Bonds has about 70 HRs by the All Star break. He's averaging 1 HR a game. Meanwhile, all my other players like Alou, has 25, which is somewhat more realistic. I've tried reducing Bond's contact and power but he's still belting them out. The problem I noticed is that pitchers never pitch him tough like they do in real life. He always gets change ups or fastballs down the middle. Shouldn't the CPU be smarter than that? D-Unit
first, alout hitting 25 HR at the all star break is not realistic. lower the hitting sliders.
Campo09
wat is your difficulty on, wat are ur sliders on, i use the giants all the time and bonds only hits 35 to 40 HR's.
stcardinal
I'm playing default, one setting above rookie. Sliders are all normal for user batting but for pitching I gave everyone less control for more balls and walks. Well the thing is, Alou is the only one hitting 25 (the 2nd highest in the MLB has 26 HRs), while everyone else is hitting under 10 so to me that's realistic enough. But Bonds has 70 because everyone just throws it down the middle for him to hit. I even reduced his contact and power to mid 80s. There was a period when Bonds was like 0 for 40 but after that he just keeps golfing them out of the park.

Well if you give pitcher's less control, they are also probably more likely to throw the ball down the middle. Try moving up to all-star difficulty. Try moving up to all-star difficulty. Ty is right. The big difference I noticed when moving up to All-Star was the location of the pitches. You're lucky to see 1, maybe 2 thrown down the middle of the plate per at bat. The pitchers do a good job of painting the corners in All-Star mode, which leads to more foul balls pop ups, getting jammed, and opposite field hits. For me, it has also led to a more realistic pitch count.
cybernetic
Yeah I play on all-star and the hitters don't chase as many pitches just off the plate which is why my pitching is struggling.. I'm becoming more patient now and wait on pitches to hit though and can get a good amount of hits and runs but haven't won yet at this level

Ivanhoe
Has anyone else has a significant drop in homer runs in All-Star mode? I've played about 20 games and I've hit only 3 home runs. I upped the power slider a little and I haven't seen any improvement. Just thought I'd ask. BTW JoeRudi26, I love that A's cap in your avatar. I've been trying to find one for the past week. cybernetic
I noticed the CPU hits a huge amount more home runs off me in All-Star but it may be due to the lack of control from my pitchers

There has definately been a drop in homeruns for me since I moved up to All-Star mode. There's just not alot of balls thrown down the middle of the plate. If you get something middle in or just get lucky guessing the pitch, you have a better shot a hitting one out. Easier said than done.
kgbaseball
I honestly think All-Star is harder than MVP.
Cash #25
I honestly think All-Star is harder than MVP. Having never reached MVP level, I find that interesting. KG, what characteristics of the two difficulty levels make MVP less hard? My hitting at All-Star is atrocious, but Pro is too easy. Plus no one can hit my pitching on Pro. I'm a 'tweener right now. jhath
me too cash... same problem here... crazy unrealistic on pro, and crazy unrealistic on all star... ive got my power setting on +50... and dlee has like 4 hr in 25 games lol
MancrushOnNomar
I've been playing on All-Star, and it ends up being very realistic for me. Only slider I adjusted was stealing timing, otherwise I'd never get any SBs.

It's just the opposite for me. I use the Big Unit's Sliders slightly varied to my preference and I can't stop belting homers. I play on All-Star difficulty and I have a fantasy draft with the Blue Jays. Thome, A-Rod, and Brian Giles each have 10 homers 21 games into the season, overall my team has 78 homers. I seem to have "Marcus Thames" type numbers with Thome having 10 HR's but only has 15 RBI's. Can anyone help me to get my homerun level down and try to get the base hit RBI's up? jhoff80
I'm on all-star and pujols has like 35 homeruns after 20 games, but I somehow still manage to have a record below .500 so I don't want to change it lol.
stcardinal
The problem isn't with everyone hitting HRs, just Bonds. My other guys have like 3-5 HRs, it's really sad/realistic. I'm playing on all-star now with some slider adjustments to contact and Bonds is still hitting HRs haha. I think this is just his year or something. I was just playing against SD, up 3-0 in the 7th. I gave up a 3 run HR and the game is tied up till the 9th. Bonds comes up and hits a walk off HR to help me win. CPU should have walked him... If there is ever a MVP 07, I would hope some new/better AI is added to CPU pitching so that they'd be smart enough to walk good sluggers, or at least pitch around him. pdub
Producing realistic stats of power hitters and medium power and low power hitters is quite hard even with the combo of datafile editing and sliders.
adamb10
I wish I had your problem. Even in Pro mode, batters hit maybe 12 homers when realisticly they hit 30-40 homers.
