Didnt Cashman trade him?

Nope. If he did, there would be an angry mob outside of Yankee Stadium right now.

Smith, Henry, Monasterio and Mendez were traded.

woah thats wierd. I was just playing when I saw this kid in Free Agency. I looked at his scouting report and it said he's the real deal. I quickly snatched him up. In AA hes hittin .316 for me. Hes awesome!! Since hes only 17, is he only in A-ball? should i be fair and trade him back to the Yanks since hes a real prospect for them?

Yea, Tabata is #2 in the Yankees system.

He might be top 5 in the MiLB though.

He's a legit 5 tool player, and when he fills out he could probably hit 30+ HR's a season for the Yanks.

I'm in love with Tabata, it's so much fun watching the Baby Bombers in Charleston, Reegie, Jose, Marcos, man. What a kickass time to be a Yankees MiLB *****. :)

if tabata progresses extremely fast and is set for a rookie season in 2008, abreu might not get another contract...but who knows what can happen in two years.

I heard they wern't going to "Duncan" him through the system (continue to press him onward even though he clearly wasn't ready)

He turns 18 in a few days (12th) so even a fairly conservative approach of 3 more years in the minors only makes him 21.

And look at that, that slates him in the Bronx the season after Damon's deal is up, Sheff will be long gone and who really knows with Matsui.

So realistically, the '09 outfield could have all Yankees farmhands. (Mix of Melky, Tabata, Jackson, Battle and Sardinha)

don't forget to put gardner in there. he has awesome speed, just needs a little work on the hitting but he could be a rickey henderson type player. without the homers.

When you have a player like Tabata in your system, you make room for him. There are a lot of options to work with. I think he's called up briefly in 2008 towards the end of the season, full time starter in 2009. Unless he progresses really fast. If the Yankees dump Giambi after his contract expires, I think Matsui moves to the DH. Damon, Melky and Tabata patrol the OF. Sheffield is long gone by this time, and Abreu is kept until Tabata is ready, then is traded.

The only downside I see is where does Melkman go in 2007? Unless Cashmoney feels that Melky has a strong future over Abreu. I mean Bobbys got the walks, and wears down the pitchers, but I think with this year under his belt Melky can match him offensively.

I'm getting lost in a Tabata thread.
