Things I hate

Here are a list of things I hate about this game:

1) Too darn many diving catches by infielders, especially with RISP.

2) Too many catches of line drives by the pitcher

3) CPU outfielders have too much arm strength.

4) When a CPU hitter hits one to the wall, the User outfielders has to bounce off the wall too long, enabling all runners to score and the batter to get a triple.

5) Too many check swings, with many resulting in popups or groundouts to the pitcher

6) With runners on 1st and 3rd, both runners will not advance on DP grounder

7) A 65 speed User runner is not as fast as a 65 speed CPU runner

8) Too often, runners will not slide when picked off.

9) 1st and 3rd basemen have much too much range toward the middle.

10) CPU 4-seam fastball acts like a knuckleball.

11) Double clutching by 2nd/SS on DP ball allowing batter to be safe at first.

12) Quick throws don’t happen after a line drive is caught by infielder or by outfielder to try to throw out runner trying to advance on flyball.

13) Batter hits a fly down line. Drops in front of outfielder and bounces over his head. Batter gets no hit and error is given to fielder.

14) Lefthanders are hit with same success by lefthanded batters as against right handed pitchers and visa versa.

15) And finally, who really wants to watch a replay of the catcher blocking a pitch in the dirt??

Other than these, I absolutely love this game and am seriously addicted to it.

Speaking of that error bouncing over outfielders head.. the worst case of this I saw was this:

I hit a home run in the Metrodome in Minnesota into the upperdeck bleachers in right. The ball fell back down and hit the outfielder. It was ruled as an error and no hit but a run was scored.

5) Too many check swings, with many resulting in popups or groundouts to the pitcher

11) Double clutching by 2nd/SS on DP ball allowing batter to be safe at first.

Those would be my 2 most annoying gripes about the game. Some of the other things can be taken care of from sliders or datafiles.

I have one more, I can never climb the wall like the cpu does to rob a home run. My guy always just jumps against the wall and the ball just sneaks over the fence. DOes this happen to everyone or just me? From your list I would say the outfielders not being able to throw fast enough is the worst.

I've never been able to run over the catcher

I guess the game is set up so you can't do it unless the catcher is waiting for you and it is not a close play. But still I try and end up sliding right into the catcher :(

One thing that I hate about the game is that players aren't allowed to collide with each other in most situations. All we have are the hard slides into second and the rare collision at home plate.

I want to be able to block the plate with my catcher. I want to see collisions at 1st base. I want to see two fielders run into each other occasionally.(Especially when I'm batting)

Lack of sweep tags when throwing out stealing runners at second. Drives me nuts when the ball gets there in time, but the 2Bman swings the ball away from the runner before tagging him.

I hate it when the ball rolls into a corner in the outfield (i.e. Fenway's center field) and your fielders can't get to it, then all of a sudden, the ball magically appears in the outfielder's glove. By that time, the runner is almost at third...

I always love the play when the SS or 3B grabs a lineout, but instead of throwing the ball to 1st (or 2nd) for the double play, they run towards the base allowing the runner to get back safely :p

I hate when you hit an infield hit or a bunt, and you tap on the Dpad towards 1st base and when they get there they stop at the bag, not run through which allows them to get thrown out much more at 1st base

The check swings/hits drive me nuts, but you can turn them off in the options menu.

You mean you can turn it off so when you check swing you will never make contact with the ball? That would be pretty useful.

The 15 things you listed are exactly the same issues I am having with MVP 2004. This is the most important part of gameplay. If you look at other games like MLB2k6 and The Show. The gameplay is magnificent, as close to realism as you can get. but yeah, the graphics suck.

That's why I gave MVP 2004 a rating of 7

Graphics 9

Gameplay 5

Audio 7 (great sound minus the play by play guys)

And it sounds to me that MVP 2005 is almost the same. If that's the case, I'm glad I never picked it up.

The other HUGE issue I have is there's no pitch counts. Sometimes if you play with the CPU all you need is 4-6 pitches to retire the side.

Man, I miss the "High Heat" type of gameplay.

I'm sure EA had a list of stuff that they wanted to fix or add for their next release but.....

All I got to say is go to hell 2kSports. I'm not buying your game.

I'm with the admin on this one. I hate the 2kSports series. I wish that the MVP series could come back. :(
