Totte
It means that your pitcher can have a bad day on occasion. That he doesn't need to pitch like an ace everytime he's up. Hot cold and streaks might be another word for it...
DanTheMan121
^Is that even when you are manually pitching? Explains why one game as Roy Oswalt I just got smacked around
snepp
Absolutely when you're manually pitching, its effects can be very noticable.
D-Unit
it can even make the pitcher much better. when i was using kyle farnsworth he was hitting 95 one day and was easily above 100 mph the next game.
x63
It effects velocity and movement. Don't pitch by the standard ratings for your pitches. Look at your pitch selection bars every time you come out. They vary with that setting on. One day your FB will be amazing and your second best pitch will be a changeup. Then the next outing your fastball is just 'good' with your curve being 2nd best. HuPeRcHiLd
Okay, great! I always thought those bars below your pitches were simply a reflection of your stats (out of 100). I didn't realize that they changed! While I'm here, do you guys know if the "spark" that you manager gives your team by NOT getting tossed from the game actually does anything. Thank for the info guys.

wretched
How do you guys get a huge difference in velocity? For me, it's usually only 1 MPH. The pitch effectiveness on the other hand really varies. I can be pitching a no-hitter for 7 innings and then the wheels fall off.
x63
Another thing you will notice is that pitcher effectiveness gets better as the season goes on. In April, in cold cities, the effectiveness is down. I remember for the whole month of April Arroyo was only throwing 86 for me.... as we got into June he was hitting 91-92 with regularity.
cybernetic
its usually not a big difference in velocity.. very rarely is it 3-4 mph

Hot cold and streaks might be another word for it... Explains why the other day I gave up a grand slam in the first using Roy Halladay. Mind you he retired the next 16 batters he faced.
