snepp
They're going to regret having that horrid contract on the books, IMHO.

snepp
Wallace is not the same player he once was. That's an ugly contract for a guy that has never been able to play on the offensive side and is not getting any younger.
The_Jerk
Uhh, this moves means that they're going to trade Tyson Chandler, and the rumoured deal that was reportedly already done was Chandler to the Hornets for PJ Brown and JR Smith. But again, its good to see that there is no loyalty in this league anymore, and that money can indeed buy happiness. Now would the difference in happiness be very different with $48 million compared to $52 million? Hopefully one day I find that out. Personally I think Big Ben is overrated, and he has been allowed to play his style because of the mismatches of the players around him. If all of a sudden he's playing next to Tyrus Thomas (6'7 PF) and Luol Deng instead of Rashweed Wallace (6'11) and Tayshaun Prince (6'9), I think Chicago may be surprised at what they're actually getting. And the contract is actually 4 years, $52 million, not $60 million, so that boggles me even more as to why he would leave Detroit. But according to him, the Pistons offer of $12 million a year instead of $13 was disappointing.
Kriegz
I'm not sure how well he will fit in away from Detroit, but one thing is for sure, the ****-tons are screwed now.
The_Jerk
They should have kept Darko. This year in Orlando he's going to average double figures in either points or rebounds, and maybe both. Big mistake giving up on him this early.

jhath
I think they will be okay... I think they will be able to trade him in year 3 or 4 and get something decent back because of his large expiring contract.... also, its very close to being finalized chandler for brown and smith... remember, chandlers contract was 6 yrs for 63 mil. By getting brown back, who's expiring contract is around 8-9 mil i think, they will still have plenty of room for next year
fred13
It was supposed to 52 mill but Wallace held out untill 60. Either way its waaaaaayyyyy overpriced. Wallace is 32, and averaged less then 8 pts per game last year. We all know how bad his free throw shooting is and the reason he got so many rebounds in Detroit was becasue he had people like Rasheed Wallace clearing the paint for him. Wallace's main skill is jumping. He may fit in to Chicago's line-up though if they move Chandler to PF and play him alongside Tyrus Thomas. But what are they going to do in 2 years, Wallace will be washed up. I'm just glad Toronto didn't do anything that stupid.

The Pistons aren't screwed. The core of the team is still intact. They are still one of the top teams in the Eastern conference. They might lose a little on the defensive side of the ball, but Big Ben might have one or two good years left, and Chicago will still have to pay that contract. Actually, it was a smart move by Detroit, not to match it.
