The Reds hope that Young can become the new face of the Organization. Reynolds brought in his former partners on Basebal Tonight, Peter Gammons, John Kruk, and Bobby Valentine. Fastflink2009
Opening Day 2006 The Reds hope that Harang can give them an opening day victory. When asked about this, Harang said, "I'm just going to go out there and pitch the best possible game I can, and I will try and block out all the media attention." The Reds are facing Carlos Zambrano, a flamethrowing righthander with dirty stuff. Hopefully the Reds can muster up a few runs and Harang can hold the Cubs at bay. Zambrano outduels Harang! Scoring Top of the 4th: Derek Lee hits a solo homerun that ends up being the only run scored in the game Box Score Game Summary This was a classic Pitcher's duel. Zambrano and Harang gave it their all, both going complete games. The Reds hit the ball hard all night just right to people. This proved vital to the outcome because with runners in scoring position they couldn't cash in. The Cubs hit much worse than the Reds and were bailed out by a Derek Lee solo shot in the 4th. Harold Reynolds, Reds GM, said after the game, "I was excited to see the type of talent that this team has. Unfortunately we came out on the wrong end but it looks to be a bright season for the Reds Organization. Tomorrow's Probables Mark Prior (0-0) vs. Bronson Arroyo (0-0)

Fastflink2009
April 6th, 2006 Game Preview: Ian Snell: The Reds hope they can handle Ian Snell's wicked offspeed pitches and catchup to his blazing fastball. While he is somewhat untested, Snell, according to the Reds' Head Scout Peter Gammons, has a high level of maturity for such a young player. The Reds need to watch out for Snell because he will come out firing. Chris Young: Newly aquired pitcher Chris Young will be tested today by a suprisingly powerfuly Pirates lineup. The key for a victory will be keeping the ball down, and letting the Pirates hit the ball on the ground. The Reds GM Harold Reynolds is excited to see his new Ace pitch tonight and hopefully Young can pull out a W. Reds win by a hair Scoring T1: Jeromy Burnitz hits an RBI double - Pirates lead 1-0 B3: Brandon Phillips hits an RBI double - Game tied 1-1 B4: Adam Dunn hits a solo HR - Reds lead 2-1 B5: Ken Griffey Jr. hits an RBI single - Reds lead 3-1 B6: Ian Snell hits a solo shot - Reds lead 3-2 Box Score John Kruk's Game Perspectives' "I thought that Chris Young pitched an excellent game. Even though he had some rough spots like that HR to the pitcher Snell, he still was keeping the Pirate hitters off balance all night. Harold Reynolds should be happy with the move he made to get Young, and I know all of us in the Reds organization are happy to see a Reds victory. Fastflink2009
April 11th, 2006 Game Preview: Bronson Arroyo: Bronson hopes to come out with a stronger performance than he had against the Cubs the 2nd game of the season. With his mix of offspeed stuff he should be able to keep the hitters from teeing off on his run of the mill fastball. Bronson stands as one of the Reds biggest leaders in the club house along with Ken Griffey Jr. and Adam Dunn, so the Reds will most likely rally behind Bronson no matter what the score is. Wade Miller: Wade Miller was not the scheduled starter for today. Kerry Wood is missing this start with a blister on his index finger. While Miller has a variety of pitches, Peter Gammons said, "Miller has 5 average pitches. While this will keep the Reds guessing, he tends to leave each of these pitches up in the zone from time to time. Look for the Reds to come out swinging for the fences." Brandon Phillips had 2 triples and Griffey had 2 RBIs. If the Reds play Offense and Defense like they did today, they could surely finish 1st in the division. This win gave them the confidence to know that they can always beat the Cubs, but now after this series, they face the Cardinals the longtime Division Leader. If they can win the Cardinal series, you are looking at a new NL Central Champion. I know it is only a week into the season, but things are really shaping up for the Reds." Fastflink2009
I think I might start posting a "Play of the Game" thing. I will take a screenshot of the Plays of the Game and then narrow it down to one, like a diving catch or a GW HR. Do you guys like that idea? yourhomiejosh
Sounds like a plan to me. I say do it. Now only if I could get my controller back, I'd start a dynasty of my own.

Ya, i'm gonna have a section that is the play of the game, maybe an offensive and a defensive part. I'm not sure yet but definately i will. Fastflink2009
April 14th, 2006 Game Preview Brandon Claussen: Brandon Claussen has been somewhat of a disappointment with the Reds Organization. 3 years ago he was one of the top pitching prospects in the game, but now he is an unproven player. This season looks to be the same for him as the others. But if he can keep the ball on the ground against a high octane Cardinals offense, he can start to turn around his season and career. Peter Gammons has seen Brandon play in both the minors and majors and he said, "This year looks to be Brandon's breakout season. He has had some trouble in the past with leaving the ball up, but I watched pitch during spring training and practice this year and he seems to be coming along quite well. He has changed his release point on his curve to give it more of a bite and he has added about 3 miles per hour on his fastball. Look for Brandon to have a good game." Sidney Ponson: Sidney Ponson has some of the best stuff in the game, but he lacks the pinpoint control that great pitchers have. This often leads to mistake pitches that are taken out of the yard. He is a sinkerball pitcher and the key for him is to keep the sinker low and away from the hitters because everytime he gets it in on the hitters they turn on it and smash it. His fastball is quick enough to keep hitters honest. Ponson must have a better outing than his last one if he wants to have a good game. The Reds love to freeswing and if he has too many mistakes this game will be over after the 1st inning.
Fastflink2009
Claussen Finds His Place Scoring: T2: Adam Dunn hits a Solo HR - Reds lead 1-0 T2: Edwin Encarnacion follows Dunn by hitting a Solo HR, making it Back to Back Homeruns - Reds lead 2-0 T4: Adam Dunn hits another Solo Shot - Reds lead 3-0 T4: Scott Hatteberg hits an RBI single up the middle - Reds lead 4-0 B4: So Taguchi knocks in two with a single - Reds lead 4-2 T6: Edwin Encarnacion hits another Solo HR - Reds lead 5-2 T6: Austin Kearns blasts a Solo HR - Reds lead 6-2 T9: Felipe Lopez grounds out and knocks in a run - Reds lead 7-2 Click Here For Box Score Play of the Game: Adam Dunn robs Albert Pujols of an Extra Base Hit John Kruk's Game Analysis: "The Reds set the tone of this one by blasting the ball in the early innings. Even though they only one by 5 runs, the Cardinals never had a chance. Brandon Claussen pitched the best game of his career posibly, and Sidney Ponson once again disappointed his team. The Reds one this game because all the role players stepped up. Javier Valentin had 3 hits, Scott Hatteberg had an RBI, and Edwin Encarnacion had 2 homers. The pieces are really falling in place for the Reds. On the subject of Edwin Encarnacion, while his batting average is low, he is turning into a superstar right before the eyes of Cincinnati. Look for this kid to do some great things in the future." REDS SWEEP THE CARDINALS Game 2 Box Score Game 3 Box Score
