Buttons not working?

For some reason my commands say that to throw at a batter I hit pagedown and to intentionally walk I hit pageup. Neither of these worked, I tried changing the required keys for these actions and it didn't work either.

In addition, once my batter got hit by a pitch and I wanted to see what charging the mound looks like. It said to charge hit the up arrow, I did and it didnt happen.

Finally, I know someone asked this a few days ago, but how do I argue a call with just a keyboard in player mode?

Thanks;

should be up arrow to charge mound but to make it easier you could just get a saitek p880 , they cost less than 20 dollars in some places

I think for intentionally hitting batters you have to combine keys...I think it is period/del and page up/page down on the keypad but I am not sure.

To tell the truth I have never played a keyboard game except maybe once to just fiddle with it. But the book of the game says that you need to hold down the 0 button while pressing page up or page down.

As far as charging the mound, I am not sure, because the book says to hit the up arrow. Maybe it means the up arrow on the keypad (button 8)

The weird thing is, the book doesn't say how to argue the call. But the way to argue with a gamepad is to press the button that allows you to scroll through your stratgies. However with the keyboard the different strategies have specifc buttons assigned to them.

If I remember correctly, there is also an option of course to pause the game & argue the call through navigation of the pause menu.

Sorry for the repeat posting, but I have a couple more questions:

Sometimes, while pitching, I see their batters move left or right a step or two, how can I do this while I'm batting?

I have been unable to get homers and my pitching has given up a lot of runs.

I have played as teams like the Yankees and the A's, just to see if it helps on different teams, but with both I have been unable to get many runs and I have given up a lot. I have also adjusted the options for user contact and power and done various other things to no help.

I have been waiting for what looks like a good hittable pitch, but the best I have gotten is a warning track flyout.

Also, with pitching, I have tried varying it, I have tried getting a rhythm, but I just end up giving up a home run or two and a bunch of hits

Anyone got any advice on how to improve both of these?

Thanks,

TS

As for question 1, the book clearly tells you what to do. (under the section called "Offense Batting")

On the other stuff, you need to practice. That's the best advice I can give. If you invest enough time in it, you will start to hit & pitch better.
