cruecu
Hey guys, I ordered a Dell Dimension 4700 last year with the regular graphics card. I'm not really up on graphics cards, so i don't know what that one is. Hopefully some of you do. This card is good enough to run the game pretty well, but I think it could be better. Is there one that is sold at walmart.com that would be better than what I've got. I want to go to walmart in the next few hours and buy one to see if it's better. Any help from the experts here would be greatly appreciated. I can give you a screenshot of my game right now if someone tells me how. Maybe I already have the best I can get, but I don't think i do..thanks
phillipsg1322
You can do better than the Intel card you have in there now. Try talking to someone who is working in the computer department there and maybe they can lead you in the right direction. But I'd recommend going to a electronics store like Best Buy or Circuit City. They'll be more knowledgeable than people at Walmart.

cruecu
although it seems there isn't too much interest in this thread, i have an update that someone may be able to help me with..the guy at dell said i have an INTEL media graphics accelerator 900 card that is built in to the motherboard. he then said that to upgrade, i would need an AGP card that fits in my slots. after that, i asked him if i needed to disable my old card, he said it would run both of them as shared. I have no idea what that means, have never heard of it, and don't know if that's possible..any suggestions?

They "share" you computer's RAM when you play games. Hampers performance big time. When you get a new card, you will need to go into your BIOS and disable the on-board graphics card. This will free up you computer's RAM and use the memory in you graphics card. You should be able to pick up a good AGP card for cheap nowadays, as the trend is PCI-E cards. Like someone else stated, go to best buy, circuit city, comp-usa, etc... Or if you don't mind waiting and buy stuff thru the mail, go to newegg.com Great prices there. I do alot of shopping off their site myself.
