TwentySeven
I'm just wondering how long you guys usually leave your pitchers in. Till the seventh inning? Till 50%? I personally find that as soon as a pitcher gets under 50% they have a sudden drop in accuracy and a lot less strikes. I also will take out a pitcher earlier depending on how well they usually do very late, and the situation of my bullpen. If I just had a nineteen inning game, I try to leave the starter in as long as possible. However, if a starter gets beat upon a lot early, I might have to reconsider. It depends what happened in the past few games, which starters I have over the next few games, and how my offense has been performing. However, if possible, I will take out the pitcher. cybernetic
Depends on effectiveness and how much stamina is left.. usually starters I have go 6-8 innings and stamina down to about 30%.. my aces will go down much lower if he's effective
sdoyle7798
I generally with get through the 7th-8th inning with an avg. start from Carpenter and maybe Mulder (he actually pitches well for me in the game), and then usually only to the 7th maximum with my other guys. I wonder if I need to play with my sliders a bit tho. While Carp may make it to the 8th with 53-47% he has only thrown, say 60-70 or so pitches. I don't mind him being that tired in the 8th, but I would like there to be more pitches. I remember seeing a thread in the past about changing sliders to different levels to get more accurate pitch counts (computer contact, accuracy fatigue, etc.). I'm gonna search for that now. EDIT: After reading cybernetic's post, maybe Carp isn't as tired as I seem to think...lol
Campo09
Now, are we talking about playing a game in a dynasty or just an exhibition because for exhibition games i use the SF Giants, who have lots of bullpen people so i use my starters for 5 - 6 innings where I can go for the strikeout, instead of playing for an out. But I can use Kline Worrell and Benitez to close out the games. But for a dynasty i use them for a lot longer.

Bama
I don't really have a certain time on when to take out my pitcher based on innings or stamina. I just take him out when I believe the situation calls for it. (For example, runner in scoring position, 2 outs, up 1 run in the 6th with the pitcher's spot at the plate i usually switch him, regardless of how well he's been pitching). Its really completely arbitrary.
maz1960
I take mine out whenever he starts to get tired. Usually i put in the middle relief. Then in the eighth i start to warm up the closer and put him in in the 9th. However, i do different when conditions warrant.
stcardinal
Playing dynasty, most if not all my pitchers can go into the 9th. It all depends on how well they do. If I can get to the 7th with them pitching well I'll push for a complete game. But if during the 7th they start to give up hits and reacts negatively, I take them out. It all depends on how many hits they give up and if they can recover. I had just played a game and my pitcher gave up two singles and a walk. His reaction was positive in the 7th so I let him pitch. He gives up a double. Uh oh. I start warming up pitchers. But he was able to get out of it. I decided to leave him in during the 8th and he was able to get a 3 up 3 down. So I figured he was okay and just left him in.
ixcuincle
I usually start warming up the bullpen once the 5th inning ends...it depends on the stamina of the pitcher usually. My settings are set so they have 60%-ish around the 6th inning , and the games are usually close , so if a baserunner is on I will warm up the bullpen and prepare a reliever. I usually tend to ignore the bullpen unless it is necessary (for the fact that I don't like having the action of the game paused) , but this comes back to bite me in the butt when the starter gives up the lead , and I end up losing the game. cybernetic
Last week I was throwing a perfect game with Halladay into the 7th in a dynasty.. he had only thrown about 60 pitches.. he beans a batter to lead off the 7th and gets rattled and then gets wild.. he allowed 3 straight hits and the Yankees took the lead (Mussina ended up throwing a perfect game against me)
Sean12131982
I keep them in until they start losing it. I'll change the pitcher after he gives up 5 or more runs. If he's pitching a SHO I'll leave him in. But I usually change the pitcher by follow my own rule of this if it's not a SHO: 1. If he gives up a run in the 6th 2. Lets a batter reach 3rd in the 7th 3. Lets a batter reach 2nd in the 8th 4. Lets a batter get on base with no outs or to 2nd with 1 out in the 9th I found following this rule lets my bullpen get in some time and their happiness level is higher. Since last season I pitched a ton of CG and hardly used my bullpen, and they weren't too happy. (Ended up starting some of them so they can get some innings). cybernetic
Well I usually let my starters throw 70-80 pitches unless it's a shutout or something, it lets me use my pen pretty well and keeps them happy
