rixmithco
Another possible cause is letting the CPU select your line ups for you. If you don't manually set the lineups and rotation the CPU can swap out players for free agents that are better. So it might be dumping some single A low potential player for an expensive free agent that then gets put in double A.
whitewolf
I play a lot of seasons, so I found a "half-baked" solution. It's tedious, but if you love your franchise you'll do it. 1) At the end of the season, write down ALL the players on all your teams. Separate them by position. Use "Positional Ranking", that will help you a lot in figuring out who is playing what position. 2) Cross off the ones you don't resign. 3) Add to the list the rookies you signed. 4) Add to the list the FAs you signed. 5) After the FA period the computer will resign players and what not on it's own. 6) While in spring training, check the players who are now on your franchise with those on the list from steps 1,2,3 and 4. Usually, some players will be missing and some will have been added. The ones who are missing are either FAs or on other franchises' A team. Turn 'fair trades' off, and trade the junk players the computer put into your team for the players "traded" by the computer from your team to CPU-controlled A teams. Resign the missing players who became FAs. Turn fair trades back on Hope it wasn't too complicated to follow.
