pujols
Is it me or is it impossible to steal in this game? Everyitme i try to steal i get thrown out, even if i have a 99 speed guy!
phxsuns
Are you sliding feet first or head first? i noticed that head first works a whole lot better for me.
pujols
Headfirst usually. But before the windup i lead off as far as i can go and hit L1 right when he delivers and my guy still gets thrown out.
cybernetic
Do you take leads? If not that can make it harder to steal too
kinghernandez
You gotta pick the right pitch to go on and it helps to have a runner with good baserunning ability. If he doesn't have that it doesn't matter how fast he is because it is all in the jump.
iceblader24
You should be hitting L1 well before he starts his delivery. It's risky, because it's obviously easier for you to be picked off, but your runner will take off a lot sooner, and you'll get on base a lot more easily. That's what I do, and I'm safe fairly often, even while playing on MVP mode.
sfgiantsflgators
tell the guy to steal before the pitch is thrown - i mean before the pitcher even begins his windup. they don't leave until the windup starts anyway so don't worry about him leaving early. that might help his jump. kgbaseball
The best way to steal bases (I imagine you have the PS2 version or are using a PS2 controller wth the PC game) is to press the base that the runner is on, then hit whatever base you're going to try and steal on the directional pad. For example, let's say I have speedy Carl Crawford trying to steal 2nd off of Randy Johnson. I would hit circle to highlight Crawford, then press up, and he will leave as soon as Randy starts his sequence. Another helpful tip is to get an extra step for a lead, which for a PS2 controller would be left on the right analog stick.

nc4182
All you need is get a good lead and then bam just run. Try putting the gameplay sliders up more on steal speed.
Kccitystar
Actually I never steal on a heater. Ever. Chances of getting caught stealing on a fastball is much higher than on any other pitch. I usually jump to 2nd on a breaking pitch (red)
