Cove Shots: A Giants Dynasty

okay - i'm going to say this once and in the nicest way i can:

this isn't "Bonds' Bashing: A Giants Dynasty". there are plenty of Bonds' bashing threads around - you can go there and post all the asinine comments you want. any more in this one, and it's shut down - i have no problem enjoying this dynasty without going through the effort it takes to post it.

for everyone new, i'm going to post this front and center on the first page so anyone that clicks on my sig will see it right off the bat.

Well, I couldn't wait. So here is my Giants dynasty!

This one is going to be a little different than my Devil Rays dynasty in that I am going to run it like I did my Royals dynasty last year and pretty close to how JoeRudi did his A's dynasty this year: I'll be controlling all player movement. If a team DFA's someone, I will go in and release that player - if a computer team signs him, then I'll let it be. If someone in real life picks him up and he's still a free agent in game, I'll put him on his new team. Any questions, let me know. :D

This will only be in effect for the first year, as this is going to be a multi-year dynasty. After the 2006 season, I will begin to run the team how I see fit (free agents, trades, etc.). I won't be playing minor league games unless the teams make the postseason, but I will be keeping a close eye on the performances of the players and call up people/demote people as I see fit.

While I won't be trading, I will DFA people if they don't perform and call up players to fill in.

Settings wise, it will be the same as the Devil Rays dynasty. To refresh your memory, here are the settings:

WOW! Did Bonds get hurt on that play? Nice dynasty. I've been waiting for a Giants one.

lol...needless to say i was a bit surprised at the effort. and thanks for the compliment - hope you enjoy the ride :D

I love that Schmidt was involved in both Giant runs, haha. What a stud.

heh...yeah, it was pretty sweet. his first at bat was a double to deep center - it was the hardest ball a Giant hit all day...

Giants Win Final Two To Win Opening Series Of The Season

After a disappointing loss on Opening Day, the Giants looked to off-season acquistion Matt Morris for their first win of the season. The Padres countered with Woody Williams. Morris allowed just three batters to reach, surrendering three hits and no walks (or hit batters). He would be pulled with two outs to go in the ninth, sitting on 110 pitches. Giants' manager Felipe Alou said after the game that it was just as a precaution as "...we have 160 games to go - no need to push Matt [Morris] this early in the year." His counterpart, Williams, was less stellar, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits in five innings of work. That was plenty of support for Morris as the Giants won 5-0.

The rubber match of the series featured two young hurlers, Noah Lowry and Chris Young. Young went eight strong innings, allowing just one run on six hits, while striking out five. On this night, however, it wasn't enough. The Giants got their second straight strong outing from a starter as Lowry went the distance, allowing no runs on just three hits and striking out eleven. In the game, Moises Alou hit the first homerun by a Giant this year to lead off the ninth and give the Giants the only run they would need. The final score was 2-0, after a sacrifice fly by Mike Matheny later in the inning.

lol - yeah, i couldn't wait. had to fire up the Giants one quick :D i was disappointed i didn't make it to the series with the rays though - before Feliz and Crawford went down, that was a hell of a team.

but now i'm into my Giants one now and i can't wait to play this out - should be fun. as for the Padres, they usually win the west when i'm a team other than the Giants. so it should be interesting to see if they end up my main competition...
