tejdog1
August 29th: In a rare move, the Mets optioned Jay Rainville back to AAA Norfolk, and recalled one of their two top prospects, starter Larry Suarez. "Suarez will be making 6 starts for us, and we'll get Pedro around 25 or 30 innings out of the pen during September. We have to keep Pedro fresh for playoff time." Tejesh explained. The move raised some eyebrows, as Tejesh is not fond of experimenting while the division is not clinched.
tejdog1
The New York Mets came up short in their bid for a 4th consecutive World Series Championship, as Pedro Martinez gave up a 9th inning solo shot to Joe Mauer, capping a tremendous series and classic game, the Twins emerged victorious, 1-0. Johan Santana held the Mets to 4 hits, while Pedro held Minny to just 6, but the only one of the 10 combined hits that mattered was Mauer's walk off. "I feel tremendous disappointment that this is how I will, in all likelihood, end my career in New York. I hope the fans don't remember me for the homer." an emotional Pedro Martinez said after the game. "That was a classic pitcher's duel, with two of the games very best pitcher's going at it. Sadly, we didn't come out on top this time, but you have to tip your cap to Johan and the Twins. They played a clutch series." Tejesh said.
