I take it you know something about crap. There's really no reason for you to come into this thread if all your doing is starting trouble.

The Top 100 Hip-Hop Tracks Of All Time

Tracks 80-71

----------------------

#80 - Handsome Boy Modeling School - The World's Gone Mad (ft. Barrington Levy, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien & Alex Kapronos)

Year: 2004

Album: White People

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: This might not be everyone's favorite work of HBMS but I really like this one mostly just because of Barrington Levy. I always like his chorus. Anyways, if you don't know HBMS, they make some great stuff and it is a collaboration between Dan The Automator and Prince Paul who was the producer for De La Soul.

#79 - KMD - Nitty Gritty (ft. Brand Nubian)

Year: 1991

Album: Mr. Hood

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: This track is awesome. The flow is quick and fresh and the rapping is just awesome. Alot of people like 'Peachfuzz' better but I just think this one is too good to pass up on. KMD and Brand Nubian, just awesome. Trust me, this will not be the last time you see Brand Nubian on this list.

#78 - Eminem - Stan

Year: 2000

Album: The Marshall Mathers LP

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: Well let me start by saying that I dislike Eminem. Not because he sucks, but because he has alot of talent that he wastes getting caught up with 50 Cent and doing too many songs that are just whack like 'Just Lose It'. I picked this one because it is one of his more sincere tracks even though he is still trying to pull off an act, go figure. Plus, for an added bonus, it samples an awesome song by Dido which makes it all better.

#77 - EPMD - You Gots To Chill

Year: 1988

Album: Strictly Business

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: You can really chill to this. It's got an awesome, funky, old school feel to it. It actually sounds alot like California Love, but it was released years before. Hmmm. Anyways, this is my favorite by EPMD.

#76 - 50 Cent - How To Rob (An Industry Nigga)

Year: 2000

Album: Power Of the Dollar

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: I bet most people don't even know about this one because 'Power Of The Dollar' didn't become real popular, but he actually droped a few hot lines back then. Then he decided he could become mainstream and you heard him rhyming like this less and less. Well, this one is here just because 50 has such a huge influence over mainstream rap these days.

#75 - Onyx - Slam

Year: 1993

Album: Bacdafucup

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: You might not know this one by name, but this track is all over commercials these days. What an awesome chorus anyways, I don't blame the companies for using it. This is an awesomely fun song with a cool beat. I think that just about everyone has heard it somewhere before.

#74 - Ludacris - Growing Pains (ft. Fate Wilson & Keon Bryce)

Year: 2001

Album: Word Of Mouf

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: This is probualy a pretty surprising pick for most, because nobody would expect Ludacris on this list, and besides it's not even one of his popular songs. Anyways, this is one of my favorite beats of all-time and it just has an awesome laid back, southern feel to it, an awesome chorus, and a decent verse by Ludacris, one of the few commercial rappers I listen to these days.

#73 - Digital Underground - The Humpty Dance

Year: 1991

Album: Sex Packets

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: This track is insanely funny. How can you not love lines like "My name is humpty, pronounced with an umpty, I'm spunky, I like my oatmeal lumpy." It's a must have in my opinon for a party or dance.

#72 - Aesop Rock - Daylight

Year: 2001

Album: Labor Days

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: I'm going to start by saying, I am playing a serious favorite with this one. I think that Aesop has great talent except that his stuff can get a little too abstact alot of times, but this is almost the complete opposite. It's really laid back and the backround is almost enchanting. He has an awesome rhyming style even though it's really different. You either love it or hate it.

#71 - High & Mighty - B-Boy Document '99 (ft. Mos Def & Skillz)

Year: 1999

Album: Soundbombing II

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: It's off of Soundbombing II which also has '1-9-9-9' by Common and it's one of my favorite compilation albums. Back to the track, the beat is really cool and it features the mighty Mos Def who will be on the list later.

Why are diss tracks counted as the greatest tracks of all time?

Why are songs that are recent counted as the best songs of all time?

Add "Beastie Boys - You gotta fight (for your right)" onto there, as well as "Notorious B.I.G. - Juicy".

Oh and here are a few more.

"Rakim and Eric B - Paid in Full"

"Public Enemy - Fight the Power"

"Tupac - Changes"

"Run DMC - Rock Box/King of Rock/Walk This Way"

"Afrika Bambaata - Looking for the Perfect Beat"

"Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five - Beat Street/The Message"

"The Luniz - I Got 5 On It"

"Snoop Dogg - Gin and Juice"

"Big Daddy Kane - Raw"

As you can see, my ear for hip hop, not crunk, not snap, not rap, hip hop is just as good as TTs

i don't know if this counts but Fort Minor - Where'd You Go is a good song.

I'd hate to say it but it doesn't. We're looking for top 100 hip hop tracks, not billboard songs my man.

Recent songs wouldn't count, but I'd say my own top 100 list would be songs that helped establish hip-hop as a culture and catapult it to the mainstream.

"Notorious B.I.G. - Juicy".

-skyrocketed Biggie into one of the best hip-hop artists ever.

"Snoop Dogg - Gin and Juice"

-top 5 for sure.

my number one would be what i posted earlier, one mic by nas. that song is the definition of hip-hop.

Haha, all those songs are left except for Parents Just Don't Understand, I must have just forgot it somewhere.

I just copped the latest edition of The Source today at work, and man, has it improved. Much better articles, much more thought put into the words and power that the magazine contains to a generation. I was incredibly surprised, considering that the last time I saw an issue of it they were too busy slamming Eminem and D12 while promoting wack-*** Benzino and his "crew" to focus on the purpose of the magazine in the first place.

Back to real hip-hop for The Source. Well, almost. They still supported the current brand of "happy rap", as Ice Cube called it in his interview, a little too much for my liking, but a lot more thought and effort went into furthering their realm as to the limits of hip-hop. Even Immortal Technique got a few mentions, and Akir from Viper Records appeared in an advertisement. Also, the Lupe Fiasco interview was hot, if a little shorter than I would have liked. I need to check out his album.

Anyway...yeah. Sorry to derail the thread, TT. ;)

The Top 100 Hip-Hop Tracks Of All Time

Tracks 70-61

----------------------

#70 - Scarface - On My Block

Year: 2002

Album: The Fix

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: Oh yes, that piano in this song is awesome. Scarface is pretty damn solid, alot of his stuff should be alot more popular. He's part of The Geto Boys which you will see later on the list. This one actually sounds alot like someting Jay-Z would do, but it's solid.

#69 - Busta Rhymes - Break Ya Neck

Year: 2001

Album: Genesis

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: Honestly, Busta is one of the best rappers that remains mainstream these days. The Big Bang has some commercial hits but it also has some nice hip-hop tracks like 'Cocaina'. I chose this track because he just really shows off his flow and rapid delivery while he lets it lose and makes it awesome. Dr. Dre does a pretty good job with the beats too. I could have also used "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See' or 'Woo Ha!!! Got You All In Check'.

#68 - Arrested Development - Mr. Wendal

Year: 1992

Album: 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days In The Life Of...

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: This is one of my personal favorites. It's just a real feel good song about a homeless man named Mr. Wendal. Unfortunatly, most bums arn't like the one described, but it's awesome because it's so laid back and fun.

#67 - The Pharcyde - Runnin'

Year: 1995

Album: Labcabincalifornia

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: Here's another great track with a real smooth sound. The chorus is really hard to get out of your head but that doesn't mean it's not great. Pharcyde is a great group that I could have had a few other tracks from.

#66 - Young MC - Bust A Move

Year: 1989

Album: Stone Cold Rhymin'

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: It's got kind of a more pop-rap feel, but no doubt it's a great track. Unfortunatly, these days Young MC is best known for showing up on celebrity fit club. At least he is in good company with the Biz.

#65 - Salt-N-Pepa - Push It

Year: 1986

Album: Hot, Cool & Vicious

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: This one got popular again lately because it was on some commercial with some guys dancing in the office. Beside that, it's a classic beat and is in my opinon Salt-N-Pepa's best. I thought about using 'Shoop' but the beat is better in Push It.

#64 - Geto Boys - Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta

Year: 1992

Album: Uncut Dope

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: It's most popular for being on the Office Space Soundtrack. The beat is so laid back and no doubt the lyrics are a little bad but it's cool in a different kind of way. The Geto Boys have alot of tracks that are fun to listen to like 'Gangsta Of Love', 'Gangsta (Put Me Down)', and 'Six Feet Deep'. An interesting little fact, one member of The Geto Boys, Bushwick Bill, is a midget and he wears an eyepatch because back in the 90s he got in a shooting that didn't kill him but took his eye out. Pretty wierd.

#63 - Phife Dawg - Flawless

Year: 2000

Album: Ventilation: Da LP

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: A Tribe Called Quest still had some damn good tracks after the group broke up into solo acts. The production in this one is really cool and Phifey doesn't let down on the mic. You got to love the chorus that talks about Hip-Hop.

#62 - The Fugees - Killing Me Softly (With His Song)

Year: 1996

Album: The Score

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: This could have gone higher but it's more of a slow, R&B type thing in my opinion. it's really hard not to sing along to. Lauryn Hill can sure as hell sing, no doubt about it. Just another feel good track.

#61 - Kool G Rap - My Life

Year: 2002

Album: The Giancana Story

------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary: This beat is just straight up sick. Kool G Rap shows an awesome flow throught the whole thing. This is another personal favorite of mine. Damn, The Juice Crew was awesome.

one of your top 10 has to be from outkast, either ATLiens, Elevators (Me and You), or Players Ball

I'm not gonna leave out my favorite group ever. They have this little track you might have heard of called Rosa Parks.
