superdee
I have the eazip.exe in the same folder as my datafile which are both in the data folder of my game dir. Now I was able to decompress the datafile using DFutility, but then I could not get it to decompress the files. So I did some research and found the eazip, problem now is that it won't compress either... Please give me step by step instructions, this is the first time I try to edit a datafile... below are the messages I got when I tried to do things to the datafile using eazip... thanks in advance... D:>mvp2005dataeazip -u datafile.txt UnCompressing 'datafile.txt' err = ERR_READ D:>MVP2005dataeazip -c datafileEdit.txt Compressing 'datafileEdit.txt' err = ERR_READ D:>mvp2005dataeazip.exe -c datafileEdit.txt Compressing 'datafileEdit.txt' err = ERR_READ D:>mvp2005dataeazip -c datafile.txt Compressing 'datafile.txt' err = ERR_READ
superdee
ok, I know now that the error means ERR_READ = Error Reading VIV file. Now, if it is a .txt like the datafile is... What do i do differently? What am I missing? Please help... thanks...
big shmooz
What files are you referring to that won't decompress? You said you ALREADY decompressed the datafile.txt.
superdee
thanks for the reply Big Shmooz... funny that you respond as I am using your datafile... In any event, I'll keep it simple and start from the beginning again... I am attempting to use "eazip.exe" to uncompress the 'datafile.txt' so that I can make a change in a couple of lines and then compress it back for use. I extracted the contents of the eazip.zip in the same dir which for me is d:mvp2005data I attempted the following cmd: D:>mvp2005dataeazip -u datafile.txt UnCompressing 'datafile.txt' err = ERR_READ When I went back to the dir containing the 'datafile.txt' I noticed it was the same size and was not able to open it for editing. superdee
ok, Big Shmooz, I found a link to eazip that contains a compress and a decompress batch file which worked great... Here is a link for anyone else who might be having trouble with this... http://www.efick.com/eazip.zip Thanks,
