Guest
Can someone tell me the advantages of a Gamepad rather than Keyboard besides the fact that you can lead and choose your dives easily. Thx.
pujols
It's easier to pitch/hit.

Maestro23
Any advice on hitting with the gamepad? like how to hit HR and etc. Learn to use the left-analog stick to pull/go-the-other way with pitches. Down for ground balls, etc...
DustinTheWin
the keyboard limits many things like running a better path to the ball when fielding
Sidewinder
Keyboard just isn nearly as intuitive, ergonomic, and natural for most sports games.
Fastflink2009
Ya, you have a complete range of motion in the field, and all the buttons are easy to reach, you don't have to strain to reach up or down to press a key
Guest
When you guys hit, do you use a direction + the hit button? Is there enough time to see where a pitch is going and then adjust with the stick so you get a direction to hit the ball?
Fastflink2009
sometimes, usually i just guess before the pitch and if it isn't where i guess i let go of the stick and swing
cybernetic
Yeah basically you have to aim the left-analog as the pitch is coming or guess. Usually you don't have time to guess, you just go by the batter's eye thing as to how hard the pitch will go and adjust as it's coming in.

duckdodger215
i can't even imagine playing with anything other than a gamepad, now. it's kind of like racing games if you have a wheel. once you see the light, you never go back to the dark side (no im not a big fan of star wars). my personal favorite HR swing is a fastball high and inside, or a slider crossing back towards the outside of the plate around waist-high, if it's a RH batter bottom line: get a gampad
Guest
Can some tell me how to advance A runner without moving the others with the pad. EX: I have someone on 1st and 2nd and the batter hits the single and I want the runner on 2nd to go home but I am not sure of the button... Thanks. phxsuns
If I'm not mistaken, I believe all you have to do is press down on the directional pad since you already you have control of the lead runner.
Applejak
On a related noe, how do you control the batter when he is runing, if you have a guy on second? If you press right, it gives you control of the guy running from first to second. Its just sometimes during close plays, I want the guy to dive, and it keeps giving me the baserunner. Guest
Do you guys hit home runs by adjusting the stick to point upwards?
phxsuns
For right-handed hitters I adjust it so it is up and to the left not just upwards. And the oppostie for lefties

Fastflink2009
So Mainly Opposite field hitting? No, pull hitting, that is the main way you get HRs in MVP, you have to get an inside pitch and pull it
Maestro23
No, pull hitting, that is the main way you get HRs in MVP, you have to get an inside pitch and pull it Yes sir. Wait on your pitch and pull the trigger. Middle of the plate - in. I have great success depending on the hitter. Also have success going the other way. Can't go up there trying to kill the ball on every pitch either. I'm using Hoop27's sliders. Like them alot.
snepp
No, pull hitting, that is the main way you get HRs in MVP, you have to get an inside pitch and pull it I hit just as many opposite field as I do pulling.

Applejak
I hit just as many opposite field as I do pulling. Me too. In fact I used to hit all my homers opposite field ewhen I first started, but know I pull a lot. Also whoever posted the "let go of the stick and hit" tip - thanks! My hitting just got loads better. I always used to guess, and if I was wrong try and correct it really quickly - which obviously only worked about 1 in 10 times. Now I get loads of hits down teh middle. Also just discovered that pushing down can be useful. I always thought it was an almost guarenteed out, but git a few singles like that. Almost time for MVP level I think.
