kgbaseball
I'm looking to buy a subwoofer and amp soon, and I was wondering if any of you out there had preferences from personal experience and whatnot. I don't want a sub with any more than 300W RMS or amp with 250W because I've got a pretty small cab, even though my truck is extended cab (96 Dodge Dakota). I know there's gotta be some of you here that know a thing or two about audio. I know a fair amount, but I just want to see if anyone has experience with any brands. What I'm looking at right now is this amp: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2RqhdPvBoLD/c...6005D&s=0&cc=01 and this subwoofer: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2RqhdPvBoLD/c...1242W&s=0&cc=01 Again, if anyone has a certain brand and would like to tell me its pros and cons, I'm all ears. gcurrier2004
The amp is VERY good, I used to buy audiobahn amps all the time. Infinity is OK, but you could probably get somthing better for the same price.
kgbaseball
I figured that was a fantastic price for that amp. I've heard nothing but good about Audiobahn so that looks like a good choice.
RainesItPours
A buddy of mine had the older version of that Infinty sub. He had one 10 for the time being and it bumped hard, and came out clean. But like currier said there is stuff out there thats more bang for the buck.
kgbaseball
I ended up ordering a few minutes ago; I went with the Audiobahn amp and a Polk sub (12", DVC 4-ohm, 360RMS) for $99. My current speakers are Polk and they work great so I figured I could trust Polk's subs too. I had 2 gift cards worth $225 so basically I'm paying $54.79 for the sub+amp+wires. Kccitystar
Get some MTX amplifiers, and some Ample Audio Subwoofers. You can't go wrong with those. Here's a list of brands I recommend. Anything other than the ones listed are no good. Moderate ------------------- Alpine (amplifiers and speakers) Audiobahn Blaupunkt Aiwa Crunch Hifonics Hollywood Kenwood (amplifiers, head units) Lanzar Lightning Audio MA Audio Matsui MTX Panasonic Pioneer (amplifiers and speakers) Precision Power (PPI) (newer amps) Rockford Fosgate Sony (Head Units) Great ----------- Altec Lansing Alumapro Ample Audio Audio Development Boston Acoustics Cerwin Vega Clarion Crossfire Crystal Digital Designs (DD) Directed (DEI) Earthquake Eaton Helix Illusion Image Dynamics Infinity JBL (amplifiers) JVC Digifine Kicker Lunar MB Quart Memphis Audio MMATS MTX (amplifiers) Phoenix Gold (some models) Polk Audio Rockford Fosgate (some models) Soundstream USAcoustics a/d/s Adire Alpine (head units, signal processors) Arc Audio Audax Audio Control Brax Butler Audio CD Technologies (CDT) Diamond Audio DynAudio Eclipse (Fujitsu Ten) Focal Harrison Labs Infinity Kappa JL Audio Kove Luxman McIntosh Laboratories Morel Nakamichi Orion OZ Audio Pioneer Premiere Precision Power (PPI) (Art & Power series amps, old) Rainbow Sinfoni US Amps Xtant Zapco
adonis2109
Get some MTX amplifiers, and some Ample Audio Subwoofers. You can't go wrong with those. I agree with Kc. I love MTX amps with JL Audio subs. They sound lethal. JL is doing this new thing with subs where they're selling unconventiional sizes like 13"s, but they hit like 15"s. They sound awesome. Infinity is a personal favorite of mine too, but the market is really price competitive now. Definitely more bang for the buck.

RAM
interesting thread and coincidental too. i just got a new a blaupunkt head unit for my bronco and love it. i've always loved blaupunkt but, it was a toss up between that and an eclipse head unit. the blaupunkt just beat out the eclipse IMO. i've also got some OLD alpine speakers that sound really good but, they were already in the truck when i bought it. not sure if i would use any newer alpine speakers though. anyhow good thread because i am starting to look for an amp and a sub. nothing too crazy, i don't want to spend thousands on a car system. but i do want a clean amp and theres a small side panel in the back of the broncos near the tailgate that is perfect for a built in sub enclosure that's almost un noticable that i've seen a few guys do.
