Favorite Players To Watch?

Who are your favorite players to watch? I don't mean favorite players in general, just to watch.

For me, it is Alex Rios, Nick Swisher, Eric Chavez, and the two baby bombers Robinson Cano and Melky Cabrera.

1. Ichiro

2. David Ortiz (best hitter in the universe)

3. Jose Reyes (leads league in triples, stolen bases)

Fast guys are always fun to watch.

And Ortiz is NOT the best hitter. Pujols is better. DiMaggio was better. Gehrig was better. Ruth was better. Ted Williams was better. Ty Cobb was better, if less powerful. Bonds was better (was because he is pretty bad nowadays).

Sorry, just my beef. Continue discussion.

IMO, BIG PAPI = best clutch hitter in baseball today. Aside from Jeter (who mostly singles/doubles in the clutch), Papi almost always hits clutch home runs. He's just amazing.

I personally like watching Neifi Perez play, it just seems like he's always smiling and having fun.

WHAT? are you kidding? he has to be the worst player to have on the team and hes always playing. how could you say that? how is he playing over cedeno and izturis. if its not izturis its cedeno. it switches off. yeah hes smiling because he knows hes lucky to still be in the mlb

Gonzalez is amazing defensively. Gold glove, anyone?

Gonzalez better win it this year he's a walking Webgem plus he only has 5 errors on the season.

mine has to be Future hall of famer Mariano Rivera

Possibly one of the greatest closers (if not the best) of all time. Always cool under pressure, never panics no matter what the situation, and has ice water running through his veins. The mans a walking machine converting save after save after save. Once you hear "Enter Sandman" and see him jogging out of the bullpen, you already know the game is over. Cant even imagine where the yanks would be w.o him

Gotta be Chase Utley. Not even because of the streak (which he kept alive tonight) but because he always plays hard; hitting, baserunning, defense, he always gives his all. In today's game his style is very refreshing. It's quite a shame more guys don't respect the game the way that he does.

also rans:

Ichiro

Pujols

retro pics:

Eckersley

Canseco

Dykstra

D. Wright (he's going to be one of the best hitters in baseball)

J. Reyes (He's going to break R. Henderson's all time stolen base record, not his 130 sb's in one season record)

D. Ortiz (The best clutch hitter in the game)

C. Wang has been nice to watch lately.

I love it when people continually refer to Ortiz as "clutch." Its coincidence that he comes up to bat in those situations, and he happens to be a good, intimidating hitter. It's not like he sucks all game and waits to be behind in the 9th inning, and then decides its time to hit. He's just a good hitter who once every thirty games gets a chance to drive in the winning run.

D. Wright (he's going to be one of the hitters in baseball)

That made me smile.

I enjoy watching Brandon League pitch. His windup is really cool, its almost a sidearm delivery, and his pitches are either extreme heat (often 100+MPH) or its a pitch that dives in or out and makes hitters look stupid. Plus, the man wears goggles, and almost never closes his mouth.

I also like watching Dustin McGowan. Even though the results have never been great, its fun to watch a guy you've followed allt he way up through the system.

For non-Jays, I like watching Barry Bonds, especially when he's playing at home. It's just fun to watch the most blissfully ignorant fans in baseball cheer him on as he strikes out or grounds out and barely leaves the batters box.

I can't stand watching guys like Jeter, Wright, Reyes, Ortiz, Varitek or Rivera. Maybe if I was deaf and never had to listen to announcers overhype and glorify these guys, I might like them a bit more.

It's hard to find entertaining guys in baseball. Homeruns aren't that exciting anymore, and it usually looks similar to regular fly outs, and nice catches in the field are so rare, and most we have seen dozens of times.

Its much easier to find exciting players in sports like hockey or basketball, because players can find creative ways to achieve the same goals, and more often you see things you've never seen before.

interesting that you've already put pujols in such elite class.

i've loved him since he hit his first home run and instead of jogging, ran the bases.

blasphemy! it's not coincidence that he gets the hit when he comes up. a lot of people come up in clutch situations, but ortiz comes through. to say he's not clutch is to not understand the pressure. and yankee fans are just happy ortiz only gets the chance once every thirty games, if he got the chance every game of the season, bosox would win 130 games.

i don't like andruw jones, he just makes playing the OF too easy. you could hit a gapper and he'd just jog over and catch it. i don't like jeter, i just think many of the "amazing plays" are just plays that he doesn't have to make be so amazing. nothing against the guy though.

i like zambrano, so much emotion. i like wood, same reason. i like byrnes, cause you know he's gonna run through a wall for you, i like maddux because he's such a student of the game, even if he knows everything, and he's so artistic with how he uses his head to be prepared for everything. utley cause he's damn good and hustles his butt off. ichiro cause it's ichiro. hendrickson for falling. mcgriff, cause he would do anything to try to get 500. papi cause that's just awesome. and that's all the current players i can think of right now.
