MarkB
Basically, I'm looking to make MVP, as a whole, silent. Why? Well, I want to test changes to Waterfront Park while I'm recording the Thunder game stream, but even though I've silenced all of the in-game sounds, the EA Jukebox and the rest of the idiotic sounds, I can't silence that stupid little "ping" that is invoked when you click on the "Click To Start" screen. So, is it possible to remove this incredibly annoying little bastage, or must I resort to travelling thousands of miles to an EA office and threatening to behead programmers and graphics workers unless handed the source code? :)
BrooklynNets24
i thought there was an option to lower Menu Sound

Yankee4Life
There is - but it doesn't silence this one sound. I got curious Mark and tried what you were doing. I silenced everything except that sound you are talking about. I have no idea how to cut it off.
MudvayneRocker
maybe if u just copied the entire audio folder to another folder on your pc, then deleted it. that way if you ever wanted you audio back u could just copy it back into you data folder. MarkB
I'm pretty sure the game would just die when you ran the executable, as it would be expecting the audio file and it wouldn't be there. Unhandled exceptions usually equals a crash - and I seriously doubt EA programming that explicitly. Worth a shot, I guess. Random thought - wouldn't that menu noise be stored in one of the other audio files with the rest of the menu noises? If so, wouldn't it be possible simply to open the file containing the audio, remove that particular audio file from the archive (or replace it with silence), then repack the file? Almost modding the menu noises, I guess. I haven't done much research on the audio, anyone with MVP audio experience got an idea on that?

Mav3rek
i know it was a joke, but.... if he were to turn off the speakers wouldn't that defeat the purpose of recording the Thunder game stream? the main reason he wants the sound gone (i'm assuming) is b/c when he's recording the stream of the game it has the cts sound in it....turning off the speakers wouldn't solve that problem.......hehehe.....
jhath
rofl... def the post of the day... i havent laughed so hard all day lol... but sry mark, i really have no idea to how to do that, other than the unpacking/repacking with recorded silence sounds like the right track
MarkB
Turning the speakers off would leave me in the imitation gold category as opposed to pure gold, I think. Shame, really.
UncleMo
I have never come across files in which those sounds are stored, however, I always searched for files pertaining to crowd, heclkes, etc etc. I could tell you where to check but I feel like I'd be insulting your intelligence. C:Mo's PlaceMVP Baseball 2005dataaudio I've never tried these files: orca folder and in the aems folder see what sfxa and sfxb and minicom are. The rest are game files. OHHHHHHhhh. EA Jukebox, as in walk up dittys? See if there is something in the audio.csv file. Go to: dataaudiocrowddb

Mav3rek
he's listening to the Trenton Thunder game w/streaming audio, and recording it.....kinda like MLB Gameday audio.
Trues
Why not just leave the game running? while in the menu, alt-tab out, make your changes and go back in, start a game and test. There's no need to completely restart the game to test stadium edits.

snepp
and why would he need to get to the CTS screen? I'd like to cosign that question. What does the CTS screen have to do with a modified stadium file?

There's no need to completely restart the game to test stadium edits. Yep, thought about that. Problem is the CPU intensity while opening 6MB bitmaps on a 1.3GHz Athlon in Microsoft Paint (or even worse, Paint Shop Pro) then repacking them and the fact that alt-tabbing is pretty unstable for me - the process crashes maybe once every 3 times I alt-tabinto or out of MVP. Mo - sorry dude, I have no idea what any of those files are, or how to check them out - what program to use to extract and listen to them, etc. The sound I'm talking about is the one where, after the Ichiro screen, then first CTS screen pops up and the "Click To Start" box fires across the middle of the image. When you click that screen, there is a noise - it's sort of like a jingle, or a bell that's been washed with beer and acid.
UncleMo
Oh dude I'm not sure, I bet I could have come across it and am not sure what it was at the time. I still don't get why you're turning this game into a silent film, but there are alot of things I don't get. Um, try .asf importer exporter to extract files, then, since there will be tons of audio files, download and use my sx express I uploaded to quickly turn all audio files from .asf to .wav format and BOOM you get to hear them so quickly. pdub
I have a program that can preview the sounds while they are still in the AST file, that way you don't have to extract them all, of course it does require more clicking. I gues Mo's way is better because you can just drop them in winamp and let them all play with no clicking.

MarkB
Thanks Mo, I'll give that a shot later tonight. If I'm still awake, that is. Thanks to the rest of you as well. I'll post back with any significant results.
