Maestro23
what do you mean? im a novice with computers....what should i do to check it exactly? Not trying to sound sarcastic, but how do you know you have a pretty good computer when you say you're a novice? What are your system specs? (RAM, CPU, etc...) What type of video card do you have? Do you have the latest drivers for it? Have you turned down the the graphical settings in the game to try and get better performance? These are things we need to know so we can begin to help you. Bhay99
yes ive turned down the settings and being a novice doesnt mean im retarded...i know my computer specs but that guy posting "check your video card" does me no good at all...obviously, anyone could have told me that. i have a HP, P4 3ghz, 384 MB of RAM and an ATI video card, but i dont know exactly which kind

Go: Control Panel...Display...Settings...Advanced...Adapter Should tell you what kind of card you have. If you have an integrated card, when you play the game.. it is using some of your 384mb of system RAM to run the game. An integrated card "shares" the RAM of your computer since it doesn't have its own dedicated RAM. Hence you are taking a hit in overall system performance which will lead to choppiness and slowing down.
Bhay99
i dont know if it is integrated, but it is a ATI Mobility Radeon 9000/9100 IGP... doesnt say anything about being integrated

You're totally right. That post did nothing to help you, and it wouldn't have helped anyone else either, so don't feel bad about your response, because that answer was quite stupid. My question for you is have you installed all the ea patches? There is a patch (#3 or #4 I believe) that solved the studdering issues for many users here, including myself. Edit: If you haven't, you can find them in the MVP 2005/Downloads/Official Patches category.

jhath
also, im fairly confident, bhay, that your graphics card isnt... mine is an ati mobility 1600, so with my limited video card knowledge, i assume that we are on the same product line, and therefore yours isnt, because mine isnt. From my experience (and others feel free to correct me), but i have found most intergrated cards to be generic, no name brand cards, and ati is a huge video card name
Bhay99
i have the 2006 mvp update from this site, do i have to uninstall my whole game to rerun this patch? because i try to install the patch and it says that some file is missing and it cant run... and if i do have to uninstall and start over...how do i save my franchise? what file is it in? Maestro23
i dont know if it is integrated, but it is a ATI Mobility Radeon 9000/9100 IGP... doesnt say anything about being integrated IGP = Integrated Graphics Processor Suggest what the other poster said and install the EA patch #3 and see if that helps. Also there is a program called 3d Analyze that can help some computers run games better. Many on the boards here have used it. In the future, I would look into getting more RAM and a better video card with its own dedicated memory if you are going to be playing alot of games on your current system. The processor is fine, but its being bottle-necked by the low system RAM and the integrated video card. Good luck with this game man...
jhath
ahh... bhay are you using a no cd patch? That would explain the error on the patches as you shouldnt have to reinstall the game to install the patch. If you are using a no cd patch, just copy the exe over from your original cd, and try again. also, sorry about being wrong on the integrated... thanks for correcting me maestro. I also compiled a tutorial on 3d analyze... if you would like that, ill try to find it.

Maestro23
yea it is because he has a mobility card... I was 99% sure it was, just wanted to make sure... Hey, I've got the ATI X1600 PCI-E card. Is this the one you have?
jhath
Mine is this mobility 1600, so if you've got a laptop, yup! Also, here's the 3d analyze tutorial: Here, hopefully this is simple and works for you: 1. Download 3d analyze v2.0, which you can get here 2. Open it, choose the mvp.exe, and look for Misc on the right side and where it says "countdown for disable rendering/disable state swiches in seconds" and put "0" in 3. Run the program 4. Make sure helmet reflections are off (in-game options menu)... it wont work unless they are off hopefully that does the trick... if you have any questions, or problems, let me know... i remember that on my old pc... it took me awhile to figure this out too edit: also, feel free to select other options... some selected the remove studdering option, but i found that made gameplay too fast... but figure out what works for you.... and i dug up a screenie to go with it for ya... this is what your 3d analyze program should look like edit... make sure you scroll over and see the right side... Bhay99
i ran the 3D-analyze with no options checked, it ran for like 2 seconds and stopped...is it supposed to be this fast? then, i tried playing again and the game was still choppy....what else should i do? big shmooz
i replaced the exe with the original, but it still gives me the message You need to also have the original roster files (.dat files) installed in your database folder at the time you update the game. You can then switch back to your normal roster files.
