D-Unit
People these days are cheap, five bucks can't buy you much, but if you don't pay you can't get any mods. So whether you support it or not, it's one way or the highway.
JP_Frost
I for one don't support it, not because I'm cheap or unwilling to show my appreciation for this site, but it will result in alot of negativity. I understand Trues' situation right now and something has to be done, but I don't think a fee will help that much, because you will also lose alot of good people that have supported this site by modding or being helpful on the forums. These kindof people should be cherished amongst alot of these childish 1 week spammers, instead of driving them away. Perhaps some other sort of limitation could help adress the bandwidth issue, but charging people is the wrong way in my opinion. besides, paying a fee isn't necessarily an indication of being supportive of this site, nor do I think that it equals being allowed a privilege. gangstar
screw negativity, screw this thread that shouldn't exist. The title is horrible GTFO. Also if you havent noticed its new freeloaders like yourself complaining about the site now bogging down the forums and downloads. So as I said GTFO you aren't welcome here with your cheapass attitudes.
D-Unit
I don't think modders like thr33nil and others should pay, because they put out mods which counts as contributing to the site though. and as part of the support of the subscription, RAM's post in the other thread should be put into here because it is probably the best way to explain it. Hoop27
I'm of the opinion that a two tier system might work. For Contributors/Modders/Subscribers Unlimited d/l's. plain and simple For all the other users just a simple d/l limit whatever that limit may be I dunno. I'd think something along the lines of 2 files a days or a certain # of MB's per day. Now I'm dating myself quite a bit but this was not uncommon at all in the BBS days (ya like 15 years ago) where you would be able to be online at a BBS for say an hour a day unless you were a paying member. Plain and simple something has to be done and I think this may be a fair solution for everyone.
gangstar
I don't think you ppl realize if he's to make tier's that more work for him. Its either you hurry up and buy or don't. Like you don't go into a resturant and challenge their prices do you? This thread is idiodic as is ppl bitching about a minimal fee so everyone can enjoy the forums and downloads with no rediculous 30second wait time for a page to load. So as I said GTFO you aren't welcome here with your cheapass attitudes. Gangstar, the title is worded poorly, but he actually agrees with you that there should be a fee. Also, you've only been here two more days than he has, so you really don't have the right to call him a "new freeloader" when you've been here essentially the same time as him and he wants to pay. The Big O
I'd pay five bucks for this site. The five bucks buys a lifetime subscription and it's a one time donation. If MVPmods did not exist then mods would have to be hosted somewhere else and there aren't too many places that would host files that are as big as some are here with that many downloads. $5 is pretty cheap for web-hosting, when you see what's out there. I'd gladly donate $5 to host my mods on here - in fact I just did.
gangstar
I don't mean him but why even start a post like this. And screw how long someone's been here because alot of ppl just sign up for the site to download. I on the other hand enjoy the great forums and discussions and enjoy participating. So I don't know what you are trying to insue jhath

Fastflink2009
There are some people that aren't modders or admins but contribute a hell of a lot to the forums. Some people enjoy this site not just for the D/Ls but the forum talk as well. So people like that who do a ton for other people should be grandfathered in as KC greatly put it. ChicagoCubs720
I don't understand why threads like this keep being created. A petition wont sway Trues mind. There's obvious pro's and con's to a subscription fee. In the end, Trues will weigh the advantages and disadvantages and make the best decision possible. It's great that people are worried about the survival of this site, but what these threads say to me is that people are worried about 5 bucks. jhath
because the other one was locked... but yes you are right, chicagocub, this wont sway trues' minds. The only way we can accomplish this is by being role models and leading by example, and donating. I for one know that as soon as there is a method that I can donate by, (paypal isnt an option for me and i hope a mail option become available) I will donate.
