No you dont need to restart your computer and you dont have to take the disc out. If you got mvpedit, open the MBE with mvpedit and export the settings into C:/Program Files/EA Sports/MVP Baseball 2005/data/database folder. If you dont have mvpedit then I also thing the download comes with the files in that database folder seperately, so just copy and paste them files into C:/Program Files/EA Sports/MVP Baseball 2005/data/database folder.

Have you tried reseting the rosters?

Once you have copied the .DAT files into the database folder, start your game and go to manage rosters in the main menu. Click on reset rosters and see if that fixes the problem.

did you put the .dat files in the dat folder included in the download into the mvp2005/data/database folder or did you read the read me in that download. I thought it included instructions and an installer, if I'm not mistaking.

Look inside your database folder. If you have another folder in there called "DAT", check to see if you have any files in there. If you do have files in that folder, there is your problem. Those files need to be taken out of the DAT folder & put into the database folder directly.

One more thing to note. I am assuming you are having this problem with playing an exhibition game. If you are playing a dynasty or owner mode game that you started before installing the rosters, there is nothing you can do to get the game to recognize the rosters since the rosters are no longer being read from the database folder. As a test to see if you installed the rosters correctly, try playing an exhibition game & see if the rosters are updated or not. If they are, you know then why you are not seeing anything updated when playing dynasty or owner mode.

There is a program to get the game to recognize dynasty mode changes you make. But that is a bit more complicated & I will not get into that now since I don't even know if this is your problem anyway.

Sometimes when you extract a file it will make a folder with the files inside. If so you could open that folder and copy and paste. and then delete that folder.

some possible problems that I think may be going on are:

1. In the C:Program FilesEA SPORTSMVP Baseball 2005data i have a folder named dat and one named database that both contain the same files.

2. Maybe under dat or database there needs to be more then just the Roster Files I put in.

3. I have a datafile folder, which I have no clue what is

Those are what I think the problem could be, whenever I go into owner mode or dynasty mode there is an error message. Could somebody please explain if any of my theories are right or if there is something else. Thanks alot for the help already.

First of all, as I explained before, the rosters you use in the dynasty are not located in the database folder. That is where it originates from, but it copies the data from there to a new different file when you start a dynasty. (your dynasty .sav file)

When you say you cleaned out the database folder, I never told you to do that. I said that you cut & paste the files from the DAT folder to the database folder. Then to delete the dat folder. I also explained that the above advice would only work for exhibition games, since the dynasty or owner mode do not use these files to display the rosters in the game. You need to restart your dynasty mode AFTER you install the updated roster. Then you will have the updated stuff in your dynasty.

Also know that if you update your rosters later on, you will this issue all over again. The dynasty rosters do not read from the database folder. (once you are already in to a dynasty)

Now that is a good question. I really can't answer it offhand since I have never had issues with starting a dynasty. (I never play dynasty) I can only suggest that you delete your dynasty sav files & see if that will help. I am assuming here that your problem is not in playing a dynasty but rather in actually starting a whole new dynasty from scratch.
