Rags Posted August 20, 2006 Share Posted August 20, 2006 I'm the Athletics leading the series 3-1 with the chance to win the world series here at Shea Stadium it's Barry Zito Vs Pedro, both pitched gems thru 8 innings...a 0-0 tie and Billy Wagner is brought in in the 9th Wagner walks Bobby Crosby to begin the inning, I traded for Griffey so he's up next. Griffey grounds into a routine double play and the mets 2nd basemen throws the ball into LEFT FIELD, EVERYBODYS SAFE! Next A's batter strikes out, now Eric Chavez is up. He hits a 100mph fastball up the middle, Crosby rounds 3rd to come home and is gunned by Beltran at CF, essentially saving the game. However, its a double so now Griffey and Chavez are at 3rd and 2nd respectively and 2 out. Jason Kendall is intentionally walked to get to Dan Johnson, the lefty/lefty matchup Dan Johnson gets a fastball, he hits it!!! Extra inning World Series games are the most intense, with the most satisfaction when you win, especially in a game like that where neither team wants to lose.
