sureshot25
What MLB player do you see yourself as and why? I'll start off.. I see myself as Alex Cora. Even though when I play baseball with my friends, I'm always the leadoff hitter, I see myself lower in the lineup. I tend to do all the small things (move the runner along, bunt, steal) I have solid defense (I play outfield), I'm fast and a smart baserunner. Would like to hear other's thoughts. EDIT - I forgot about Scott Podsednick. My friend put it best: fast, good on the basepaths, good contact hitter, no power. forgot to mention I have a good eye, contact hitter and no power lol. ronmexico
I see myself as Kevin Youkilis. I have some pop, I'm not the greatest runner, but I do see a ton of pitches and I directionalize my hits and can put bat on ball when I need too. Though I see myself as him at the plate, I take pride in my fielding, and thusly at SS I am like Michael Young. I have a good arm, and I get to a lot of balls, I have a great glove, but am limited once in a while up the middle. When I pitch, which is what I do most often I am like a combination of Orlando Hernandez and Brian Fuentes. I do a similar thing with my arm (people say it looks like my arm is popping out) as Fuentes and I kick my leg like El Duque, and follow through like him, also turning my back, as I kick up. Don
First player, B.J. Ryan. I love to close out games and can bring come heat across the plate and I control the strike zone. Second player, Derek Jeter. I play like him in the field, and with the bat I bring a lot of contact and power, I don't usually strikeout. Sorry if I have mistaken Jeter for somebody else. It sounds like I'm bragging, but I was the 1st overall pick in my league.
Big_papi10
First player: Beltran. I have good contact with the ball and i have tremendous speed like him running around the bases. I could steal bases. Secound Player: Andruw Jones- I could make amazing catches. and I have speed to run to catch it
seanzarelli
I would have to say that I played like Grady Sizemore (even though my nickname was White Griffey back then) back in the day when I played. Someone with pretty good speed and could make some nice catches when having the chance. I also hit more so for contact and always had lots of doubles. kblavie
Hmmm... I can't think of anyone, how about this. Roberto Clemente's love to play, Willie Mays outfield dominatoin, Reggie Jacksons strikeouts (i strike out on average every three ABs), Ray Schalk's power, Lloyd Waner's ability to steal bases (I can do it, no Rickey Henderson) Derek Jeter's infield defense, not considered Brooks Robinson, but considered a good fielder. I think the one player that sums me up is Ozzie Smith (except the SB) I am not known for my bat, though I can get the job done, but know how to field. hsa613
I'd say late 70's early 80's Ozzie Smith. I can't hit worth a damn, but playing the field is another story.

Darkslide820
Offensively, I'm Jose Reyes. Switch hitter, I'm usually the fastest player that anyone's seen, and I love going for doubles, triples, and SB's. Defensively, I'm Johnny Damon. I get good jumps from my speed, cover a lot of ground, and have no arm.

cybernetic
I don't know but if anyone can suggest from these attributes: Good contact hitter, no power, (altough if I ever played seriously I could probably develop some), typically play the corner outfield, decent speed.. every time I play they say no stealing bases so I can't steal. I also bat right and am not a huge guy.

cybernetic
Sounds kinda like Matt Murton. Murton is much taller and heavier than I am.. I'm only 5'8" and about 150.. I think my size is more like Chone Figgins but I don't have as much speed as he does

cybernetic
ok very little power.. I have never hit a home run but then again I never play seriously
kblavie
Lots of speed, or a small amount of speed? Lou Brock was the all-time SB leader. Now are you a good defensive LF? On average what's an estimate how many times you strike out? Do you get a lot of hits? Lets say you are a pro ball player would you get 1,000 hits, 2,000 hits or 3,000 hits? cybernetic
I'm not great defenisvely.. I've only played slow pitch so I never strike out. It's impossible to project that stuff
kblavie
I'm thinking...maybe Sam Crawford? http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/crawfsa01.shtml
ronmexico
Sam Crawford?!? I think we are getting a bit carried away with someone who plays slow pitch softball. Also, this guy says he has decent speed. Craw was the all time leader in triples, and that wasn't cause he played in a big park or nothin. Lets not get carried away with these comparisons...I think that if any of us were hall of famers we'd be out playin the game right now, not posting who we are like... kblavie
Didn't say he was. But I've never met him never seen him play. Do you really think I can play as good defensively as Ozzie Smith? I wish! I'm just like him for my age. That's just what I was thinking about cybernetic. And Craw IS the all-time leader in triples.
cybernetic
Well.. I think this is nuts.. I probably compare to a guy who never got passed R ball
ronmexico
You know what I meant...mean. Plus, I understand that you aren't Ozzie Smith...I am just asking to be a bit more comparative when you make these analyses. How hard is it for me to see how you guys are if you are saying you hit like Babe Ruth (and once again, I am not serious about something like that.)? cybernetic
I'll just say I'm Chone Figgins although I'm slightly taller than he is, not as fast and not black
