Dan
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/llws06/ne...tory?id=2556529 An incident at the Little League World Series on Sunday night involving a player swearing and a coach slapping the player has resulted in reprimands, apologies and a five-second delay for broadcasts of the event. Little League officials on Monday reprimanded the manager and a player for the Staten Island, N.Y. team after the player was heard using an obscenity and the manager responded by slapping him. In the middle of the sixth inning, just before a commercial break, a player for Staten Island used an obscenity while telling his teammates in the dugout that they needed just one run to tie the game. The Staten Island manager, Nick Doscher, responded with a quick slap to the player. Lemont defeated Staten Island, 1-0. The manager and the player apologized Monday for their actions, and Little League officials have made them aware that a repeat violation could lead to a suspension. In response to the matter, ESPN has decided to put its Little League World Series telecasts on a five-second delay beginning with Monday's 3 p.m. game on ESPN between Lake Charles, La., and Portsmouth, N.H. Also, in the same game, 6th inning, 1 out, man on first, the batter hits a single to center. The kid that was on first tried for third and a GREAT throw got him out there, then the kid who hit the ball thought the game was over and walked off first, the other team tagged him, and that ended the game. It was probably one of the strangest games in LL history. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/llws06/ne...tory?id=2555965 ^^Video's on the right -dan

Padres67
For what it is worth it goes to show how the corruption of the american language has become so predominant. Here is a 12 year old who obviously is used to using the f bomb and on national television in front of a multidude of viewers chooses that time to use the word. I played little league in San Diego in the '60's. We would have missed a game if we said hell. I hope the young man and coach learn from their mistake. Showing his heart? He was showing what complete trash live on this island. A 12 year old should not be cursing like that, under any circumstances. I'm glad that Staten Island gets a national showcase, and we have a shining example shown to the entire nation of exactly the type of poorly mannered idiots we have that live here. The saddest part is, that kid is NOT the exception. I played for Mid Island, and I was rooting for them. When I saw this incident, I was extremely happy they lost. brutushayesosu
did anyone see the team that wears their hats cocked to the side? I absolutuly hate that crap unless you CC Sabathia nad have a vaild point. If your a 12 yr old little punk kid then its just bad coaching/parenting. Molitor
The kid wasnt cursing at his coach. The 2b just turned a sweet doubleplay while the team was down one run. As they enterd the dugout for their last turn at bat the kid screamed " We only need one F-ing run." The dugout went quiet as they then realized that the coach was mic'd. They went to commercial so quick that I didnt see the slap. For those of you shocked thata 12 year old cursed, you need to get out a little more, he didnt curse at the umpire or coach, he said it to evoke some passion. Was it wrong yes of course, but it happens everyday in every little league field, every school yard, every gym in every town, city, and state(even though Staten Islanders are known to be a crass bunch). What I am more upset with is his coach laying his hands on him. If the player was not his son, and he wasn't, who is he to hit a child in the face for using a word that Im sure he heard his own coach use when the cameras and mics were not on. If I am the kids father am I embarrased but I my real problem would be with the coach and his actions.

Except that the kid wasnt hit, the parents have acknowledged the child wasn't hit, and in effect are ok with the coaches action. The coach slapped the bill of the kids hat. I will grant you even that probably shouldnt have happened, but the child was technically not struck. Secondly...As I mentioned previously, I live in Staten Island, and its really a shame the crap that has invaded this place. I thank god I'm moving soon and getting out of here. (And Ive been here all my life, born in Brooklyn)
Padres67
You confirmed my point-it is an everyday occurence-which is why it happened on tv and they have to have a 5 second delay because a kid who hasnt even reached puberty cant or wont control his tongue. I'm a school teacher of high schoolers-cussing in any form is not allowed in my classroom-and you know what they rise to that standard-unfortunately we are seeing the continual decline of the decent american culture. Molitor
As far as Staten Island goes, I live in Northern NJ, inside of 10 miles to the GW Bridge and Manhattan, S.I. Im sure has a decent bunch of residents, but from my experience if NJ is considered the arm pit of the Tri-State area, SI is the scrotum..... Instead of Wearing a regular baseball cap Shawn Chacon actually wears a Fitted Cap with the Straight Rim.Im actually surprised that Chacon and Sabathia are the only players that acually do this. Hell i would to i dont like baseball caps with the bent Rim
