mdewals
just saw Major league 2 a couple of days ago and one of the players took a hit for the team. I'm sure these tactics will be in the game in real life as well but is a batter is hit by the pitcher, is it always a walk or are there certain rules? I mean, if its the bottom of the 9th and we need 1 run to finish the game, I can simply let 4 guys get hit by the pitcher but as far as I know this is never used so I assume its not as simple as it sounds. mdewals
true but even if its an accident the player is walked.....but my question, can you purposly trow yourself infront of a pitch to get hit? @JP_Frost, jep...nog 1 :)
D-Unit
if you move into it intentionally, it is a strike. and when you swing at a pitch that hits you, it counts as a foul ball strike.
mdewals
so for it to be a real walk, it pretty much must be a wild pitch or a ball that hits you??
drbeep97
basically... yeah... if you dive into a pitch, and at alot of levels don't make an effort to get out of the way, it's a dead-ball ball and you still have to hit or if the pitch was in the k-zone... it's a dead-ball strike

mdewals
Wild Pitch is not a walk. when being hit it must be a wild pitch or ball to be counted as a walk...stick to the program
sdoyle7798
Technically, it is not considered a wild pitch or a walk in the stats. Yeah, the pitcher thre it where he didn't want to, and the batter gets to first without a base hit, but it is listed in the box score as a hit by pitch. mdewals
yes but its been stated that you cannot trow yourself in front of the ball so the initial pitch must end up as a ball or a wild pitch if it didnt hit the batter ;)
