Hafner hit...

Who saw C.J. Wilson hit Hafner in the hand with the bases loaded and likely break it? I'm pretty angry. He had an opportunity for Grand Slam #7, now he may not play again this year. I think that pitchers who can't control their pitches shouldn't be in the majors. Anyone agree?

I don't agree. Major League players are on a level most of us will never know. The difficult situations they are placed in, and often excel in, sometimes looks much easier than it is, and we say, "I could do that". I doubt it was intention, especially with the bases loaded. Who is C.J. Wilson anyway?

I'm not saying it was intentional. However after three pitches inside trying to jam him, it seemed like not one was close to the plate (although one was called a strike) C.J. Wislon, though, is a Rangers pitcher.

I haven't seen the pitch yet, but it sounds like Wilson had a game plan to jam Hafner, lost command, and so on. But to your earlier question, I don't think that he should not be in the majors, or any pitcher for that matter for blowing it on one pitch. Except for Mitch Williams.

I was just angry. I hope Hafner isn't out for the season - as that would be really terrible. We'll have to see how the x-rays turn out. It didn't look like good news when he took off the batting gloves (his hand was purple).

If one of the bones in his hand is broken, there's no way he'll be back this year. If I were a pitcher, I'd jam him all day long. It's unfortunate that it happened, but it's definitely part of the game; not as much as it used to be, though.

It's baseball, it's simple as that. When you have a dead pull hitter like Hafner, you need to either come in on him hard, or work him away with sliders. You can't blame a pitcher for trying to get the best hitter in the game out in the best way possible.

Pitchers have their off-days, just like a bad day at the office. You can't blame them for using an affective strategy vs. Hafner. That's like saying IBB's are illegal. Its all part of the game.
