Patrick Fogel will take over the GM spot on the team starting today. "I am very happy to be here and cannot wait to get started on the job, this organization has potential." Once again the newly revamped offense cannot manufacturer much hitting. Rays try to avoid the sweep tomorrow and hopefully get there offense brewing. One positive out of this game is the bats of the Devil Rays woke up. The Rays offense was able to beat out 5 runs and 13 hits. Baltimore, MD - Right after the Orioles were able to sweep the Tampa Bay Devil Rays out of town the Devil Rays made a move for the future. They acquired Bill Bray and Miguel Perez from the Reds in exchange for Jon Switzer, and Chad Harville. "Bray has a ton of potential to be a closer for this team. We plan on trying him in the closer role later this season but for now we will see how he works as a setup man." Miguel Perez who is only 22 could sure up the catcher position for this year and maybe many more to come. Some Post Series Notes: -Traded Jon Switzer, and Chad Harville to Reds for Bill Bray and Miguel Perez. -Sent down Russell Branyan to Triple A Durham. -Sent down Tyler Walker to Triple A Durham. -Placed Miguel Perez and Bill Bray on MLB team. Toronto, CN - Gustavo Chacin pitched 7 scoreless innings in the 7-1 win against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The Devil Rays are now on a 4 game losing streak to begin the season. The lone run came off Justin Morneau's 1st home run of the season. Jae Seo got roughed up for 7 runs in 6.1 innings pitched. Toronto, CN - Tampa Bay was able to tie the game up in the bottom of the 9th inning at 6. But then the pitching fell apart in the 12th inning. Brian Meadows gave up a 2 run home run to Vernon Wells. "At least our offense is starting to come out and hopefully before long we will chalk up a win." said Fogel. Tampa Bay, FL - The Tampa Bay Devil Rays offense could only get 1 run in the ballgame giving Casey Fossum the loss who pitched great. Fossum went 6 innings and gave up only 2 runs. The sole run was when Rocco Baldelli knocked in Carl Crawford. Rookie Miguel Perez got his first ever major league hit and went 3-4. Tampa Bay, FL - The Tampa Bay Devil Rays pitching came to life today allowing Baltimore to score only 1 run. Justin Morneau and Felipe Lopez had solo home runs to help the cause. James Shields went 8 innings and gave up 1 run. Edwin Jackson came in for the 9th and got his first save of the season. Tampa Bay, FL - Oriole's pounded out 7 runs in the last 3 innings including 5 in the 9th. Once again Tampa's offense did not show up for this game as they only got 5 hits. Jae Seo gives up 5 runs in 7 innings pitched but surrenders 6 walks on his way to his 2nd loss of the season. Luis Rivas got injured after his first at bat. After the game the Devil Rays placed him on the 60 day DL. Tampa Bay, FL - Scott Kazmir was only 2 outs away from a Complete Game shutout when he gave up a 3 run homerun to Angel Berroa to give Kansas City the lead. Kazmir also had 12 strikeouts in the game. Then in the bottom of the 9th Felipe Lopez hit his 2nd homerun of the game and 3rd of the year to win the game for the D-Rays.
