Chad Orvella gave up a run in the top of the 9th to give the Royals a 1 run lead. Royals hand the ball to Jorge De La Rosa for the 2nd straight night and it ends the same way. With a walk off the field in a loss. Tomas Perez who got re-called from Durham a couple days ago hits his 1st homerun of the season. Tampa Bay, FL - Tampa Bay has swept the Kansas City Royals in dreamatic fashion with 2 walk off homeruns to win the first two games. The third game was a well pitched game by James Shields who goes to 2-1 on the year. Edwin Jackson came in and got his 2nd save of the season. Jorge Cantu hit his 3rd homerun of the year as well. Ty Wigginton had 3 RBI but was not enough to keep the Sox bats on the bench. Jonny Gomes went 0-5 and drops his average to .120. Gomes will bat 8th tomorrow. Entering the 7th inning it was tied up at 4 when Dan Miceli gave up a 3 run homerun to David Ortiz. The Rays offense could not mount a comeback and lose 7-4. One positive is that the offense is starting to get runs more often. Going 3-4 in his Major League debut. Quentin also drove in 2 runs which helped the Rays beat the Sox 6-5. Scott Kazmir had another poor start going only 6 innings giving up 5 runs. Edwin Jackson came in and pitched a scoreless 9th. Casey Fossum pitched a great game as well giving up 3 runs over 8 innings. Tomas Perez had been playing great since taking over for the injured Felipe Lopez. James Shields pitched a great game as he went the distance in a Complete game and only giving up 2 runs. Every Devil Rays starter was able to get a hit in the contest. Tomorrow the Rays will be going for there 2nd sweep of the season. Arlington, TX - Jon Lester started out shaky giving up 3 runs in the first 3 innings but calmed down and was lights out the rest of the way. Chad Orvella pitched a lights out 8th inning and was sent back out for the 9th inning but gave up a 2 run homerun to Hank Blalock. Carlos Quentin hit his first career homerun as well in this contest. New York, NY - Wilfredo Ledezma was shaky and gave up 6 runs over 6 innings but the Rays were still in the game since Wang gave up 5 runs over 5 innings. The Rays were still down by one in the 8th when Tomas Perez and Rocco Baldelli drove in 2 runs to take the lead. Edwin Jackson came in for the 9th and shut down the Yank's offense. New York, NY - Scott Kazmir was able to go the complete distance in a 5-1 win over the Yankees. Kazmir also was able to strikeout 11 Yankees. Tomas Perez continues his hot hitting going 3-4. Tampa had a couple people on in the 9th inning but was only able to get 1 run across the plate. Casey Fossum pitches another great game as he looks to be one of Tampa's most consistant starters.
