sh0ck
June 10th by Chad Cordero I've already got 22 saves in the first 60 games of the season. I don't know why they don't want to secure me long-term! It's frustrating because I see guys with half the amount of saves that I have but they're driving around in Escalades and Ferraris. If they don't do something soon, I don't think I'll be coming back next season.
sh0ck
Expos continue winning streak versus Mariners Montreal, PQ - Nick Johnson and Brian Schneider provided the offense as the Expos rally in the 6th to steal the game from the Mariners. With 1 out in the bottom of the 4th, Nick Johnson's double to the left center gap scored Jose Vidro and Austin Kearns to give the Expos their first lead of the game. After starting pitcher, John Patterson surrended a run in the top half of the 5th, Brian Schneider put the game out of reach with a bases loaded double to the same gap. "It's always a great feeling to provide some offense at home", said Schneider, who raised his average to .216 on the year. The Expos go for their 4th straight win against Seatle tomorrow. Jose Vidro, Austin Kearns and Jose Guillen combined for 7 hits. "Our follows our big hitters" explained Frank Robinson. "When they're getting on base good things happen." In a game that the Mariners stranded 10 runners, including runners on second and third with 1 out twice, the Expos pitching staff was once again brilliant in the clutch. The game remained close for most of the game before a 3-run 7th inning lead by a Garret Atkins 2-RBI double. The final game of the series goes tomorrow. Tony Armas pitched well in his 6.2 innings of work but the Expos couldn't mount any offense. Once again providing the offense with a clutch 2-run double was Brian Schneider. Schneider has raised his batting average to a respectable .236 in the series against the Mariners going 2-4 and scoring 1 run. The Expos begin a long 14-day road trip the Anaheim Angels tomorrow. sh0ck
The Expos continued their routing the West Coast Anaheim, CA - Both teams traded 2-run first innings but the Expos prevailed in the end as they doubled up on the Anaheim Angels 6-3. The Expos collected 17-hits but were troubled at stringing them together. "We were getting lead-off batters on base but we couldn't bring them home" said Jose Vidro, who was 4-5 with 2 RBI. Vidro also raised his average to .288 on the season. "One we got guys on base, we were trying to bring them all in with one swing" he added. Another notable stat is the 13 strike outs Expos' hitters also collected on the night. Game 2 goes tomorrow. "Maybe it's the sun, we don't get much of that in Montreal" smirked Jose Vidro, who had his second 4 hit night in a row. The Angels' pitching went through 5 pitchers in the game but none could stop the flooding. The Expos once again showed why they are the class of the NL East. The series ends tomorrow. Anaheim's Tim Salmon and Orlando Cabrera each hit a solo-HR in the 3rd and 4th innings respectively to earn the win. Once again plagued by no run support John Patterson dropping his win-loss record to 5-7. The Expos were terrible on the base paths and in the clutch as they stranded a total of 8 runners with 2 outs over the course of the game. Once again the target for criticism was Nick Johnson who was 0-4 with 2 K's on the night. The Expos will look to bounce back against Texas following their off day tomorrow.
