CCH3900
(CBC) - A single mother fed up with the bad behaviour of her three children has gone on strike in protest. Roxanne Toussaint of London, Ont., says she is frustrated by the constant chaos in her home and the bickering of her three children - 14-year-old son Adrian, and daughters, Charmaine, 10, and Kali, 8. The final straw was when the three went to clean out an upstairs room for a boarder and put all the junk in the hallway. "'Everybody has their breaking point,' I told the kids. I said, 'This is pretty much mine.'" Toussaint's other complaints include that the children scarf down all the food without leaving any for her, and they're too busy arguing to listen to her. "I'm quite tired of the bickering and I'm quite tired of talking and not being heard or listened to at all," she said. So, Toussaint pitched a tent on the front lawn of her east-end London home Wednesday and set up a sign reading, "Mom on strike." Since then, several neighbours have called to express their support and there have been a number of media inquiries. The only negative reaction so far, according to Toussaint, has been a radio host who accused her of acting irresponsibly and said the Children's Aid Society should be called in. Toussaint vehemently disagreed, saying she doesn't need the support of the children's organization, she needs the support of her children. Since her job action began, Toussaint has returned to the house to help prepare some lunches and make sure the three dogs are taken care of, but says the rest is up to the kids. "I said, 'There you go. Have the house. Do whatever you want. You guys are going to referee your own arguments for the next few days. You're going to have to figure out your own rules.'" And until the house is clean, she's not ending her strike. There has been a little progress so far. Toussaint said the upstairs bedrooms looked like Hurricane Katrina had swirled through when she left, but now resemble the aftermath of a tropical storm. In the long run, she says, she hopes her job action will help her children become more considerate of others. © the CBC, 2006 http://www.mytelus.com/news/article....i d=today+box WTF?, one odd mom

D-Unit
The parent has to put her foot down, take disciplinary action. Ditching your kids is probably the dumbest thing you can do.

Sean O
He is just describing his culture, just like Dave Chappelle does with his. Fine, let me describe my culture. White people are awesome, and hispanics are dumb and lazy. It's ok folks, I'm "describing my culture!" When you stereotype entire groups of people in a negative light, it's racism. Tell me BrooklynNets, how were the parents of the 22 gangmembers (the "Latin Kings") who were just arrested in Boston? Were they loving and supportive? It's an actual laser printer error message indicating that the printer needs letter-sized paper, but more generally a catch-all for any nonsensical error message. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAhRsVTpWYw...=office%20space
jonyrotten
I'm a high school biology teacher and counselor who has taken the year off to go back to school myself and am working in my old career for money. My old career, surgical scrub, and after dealing with some of the punk-*** wanna-be gangsta attitudes and then their parents or should I say single moms (cause dad is just a bad memory that visits now and then) justifying their kids shitty behavior I needed the break! Truama surgery suddenly seemed less stressfull. The best parents: The ones that are actually there for their kids and let them take responsibility and punish their kids when they screw up - black, white or hispanic. I hate to say it but alot of the time Carlos is right! Those steriotypes (even the ones about us white people) come from somewhere! And I love hispanic and latino moms and I'm white! At least they pop their kids upside the head with some tough love now and then. Many parents now-a-days are too busy or are just too busy trying not to be the bad guy. Or they simply justify, enable and/or get overrun by their own kids its kind pathetic. Beating a kid is of course wrong (my dad missed that rule) but whenever I see a mom or dad tan their kid's behind in a store for acting like a disrespectful fool I cheer a bit inside. Some parents just don't give a dam how their kids are doing. 1/3 of most high schools are full of idiots who doesn't want to be at school and ruin the experience of others. I say we just let them drop out.
jonyrotten
Office Space quotable: No thanks dude I don't want you fuckin' up my life too, man! Ignoring the problem won't make it any better tho, I was a drop out too but someone looked out for me and I turned it around. But I gotta agree the parents frustrate me more that the kids. But the kids need to be held resposible a fifteen/sixteen year old kid knows if they are doing wrong. Yup, Punk-*** wanna-be gangstas. They act like talking about or flashing a gun or commiting a crime makes them real men, most of the rappers don't even do the crap they sensationalize like drive-bys or sneaking up and popping someone - if that ain't the most gutless thing I have ever heard of. Oh and where does Fity-cents live now....the Hamptons? If "getto" is so damn cool why not stick with your homies? Maybe invest in your old neighborhood, like that's gonna happen. Hip-Hop brought some good talent and a new spin but it also brought a whole new kind of gutless but blantant disrespect. I see it daily, scared kids feeling as though they need to act tough to survive when it's all a load of crap...can't be dissed man...or...or...I'll shoot you...don't any of these wussies know what it means to square off one-on-one and go fisty cuffs without a weopon, a threat to use it or their homies to join in....it's gutless.
